3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pure water appearance. The aroma is fruity and floreal, delicate but persistent, with honeydew. Smooth mouthfeel; the taste is lightly fruity, dry, elegant, with a touch of sweet nuts and roasted chicken. Velvety till the final, well balanced. Good feeling, filling, at the end.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Had this with some Sapparo @ Haru in nyc. Liked the saki we had right before this one. Okay, but sort of expensive.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Had this at Haru Sushi on Wall Street, NYC. Overall very good, but a little pricey. Had an interesting taste which I could see some people appreciating. Not as good as the bottle we had before this.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Small glass at a new ramen place in nyc. They served this is a cedar box (masu), with a glass sitting inside of it, that had intentionally overflowed into the box. I figured I was supposed to pour it into the masu, which I did, and it was fine, except then it started leaking all over the place. So I poured it back in the glass, although the masu smelled delicious.
No doubt it’d overpower this sake though, it being very very mild, with light melon and orange and a touch of mint. Super dry , with no phenols. Very yummy stuff.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Crisp and clear, aroma light apples and slightly sweet and puzzlingly dry. Delicately sweet flavor with faint almonds but lots of herbal and floral flavors...turns dry in the finish but still a slight residual sweetness.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
The best of the sakes I have tasted. Dry wine like feel on the mouth and goes down very smooth. Tingles the throat and a taste that sits on the tongue begging for you to have another sip.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
This was one of my favorites from the nearly dozen sakes that I tried while in New York. Dry and crisp, with an almost papery aroma, slight burn of alcohol and a very pleasant aftertaste after the quick burn.

Hakkaisan Junmai Ginjo came in third place in tonight's six-way sake tasteoff, and it's a respectable Ginjo. There is one odd thing about it: it smells a bit like cheese or pork, and that persists into the flavor. Now before you freak, be assured this is very, very faint and it may not be present in your bottle, but it was there in mine. Otherwise, the aroma is predominantly grassy and the taste is dry. An appropriate level of alcohol burn for a Ginjo, meaning a rather light burn, makes for a dry, grassy Ginjo you'll enjoy.
