UPDATED: AUG 16, 2009 A fantastic beer...a real surprise. Porters are hit and miss for me...but this was a huge hit. Lots of port nose and flavours and very smooth...this brewery seems to produce some great strong beers. listed as 7%

Draught at Popeye Tokyo (rated Apr 2008). Head is mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, chocolate, caramel, nuts), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of gum and plum. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately bitter. Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. Interesting example, quite rich in the malt department, dare I say decadent. Yummy stuff.

Bottle @ RBESG 09 Shefield ... Black color. Raosted malt aroma, with aramel notes. Flavor is raosted malt with an infected sourness. Too bad, it would have been much beter if it wasn’t infected.

[bottle @ RBESG 2009, Grant Tasting] Opaque brown. Tart infection. Wish it was not infected. Flavour is flattened and has a cardboardy plum oneness.

From the Bottle at RBESG Harlequin, Sheffield 19/07/2009 Fruity and rich aroma. Dark coloured and strong in alcohol with a dry and slightly bitter malt finish.

12oz courtesy of KyotoLefty. Pours an oily black with a dark tan ring... more like a stout. The flavors are more stoutish as well, with a sourness that I haven’t tasted in a stout since Harvey’s. Easy enough to drink and nice on the palate.

Bottle from Nightfall, thanks! Deep dark brown color, opague. Roast and milk chocolate in the aroma. Roasty flavor with chocolate and grapes. Upcoming tartness. Creamy mouthfeel. Very pleasant, highly drinkable porter.

Bottle at the RBESG09, Grand tasting, sheffield. Alround rating: Light tartness, vinous raspberry sharpness, good sour red wine vinigar in the finish. If it wasnt infected it would be poor.

[RBESG, Sheffield]
Grand Tasting @ The Harlequin, Sheffield.
Pours deep brown with a small, creamy, beige head. Aroma is roasted, some chocolate. Light sourish. Thin and watery. Definately infected. Just a bit of chocolate peeping through.
