3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
16oz can pours a hazy amber color with a medium fluffy off white head that leaves great lacing. Smells of pale malt, caramel, dough, and citrus. Tastes of all the same things in the smell. Mouthfeel is silky and creamy with great carbonation and a semi dry finish. Cool artwork on the can. Pretty good beer overall can’t hardly tell the high abv. Never been a big fan of their beers but this one is pretty good. Glad they stepped it up for their anniversary beer. Nice citrus and malt flavor with a slight hop bite. Worth trying if you run across it.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tall can. Pours an opaque golden honey with light and soft off-white head. Aroma of biscuit-y malts and a complex mix of hops. Taste is overpowered by the hops and bitterness up front, but with a lingering sweetness in the back end. Pretty heavy mouth-feel, with a dry finish. Decent overall

Thanks to 5000 for sending me this can. Orange pour with a white head. The aroma has some very nice tropical fruit notes as well as some pine and biscuit malt. The flavor has some of the same notes. I get a ton of tropical fruit and orange citrus notes. The biscuit malt keeps the bitterness fairly low. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Really liked this one.

Taste: moderately bitter, initial flavor and finish with short duration.
Palate: medium body with watery texture and lively carbonation.
Overall: very good.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draught. Pours a hazy darker amber color with a smallish off white head on it. Some EXTREMELY light citrus notes in the nose, though I had to warm it to even smell anything. Taste is a bit sweet up front, though it finishes a little bitter. Kinda unremarkable.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draught @ Brouwer’s Café:   Deep amber, fiery, moderate to large foamy head, tannish, nice lacing.   Soft citrusy nose, a little mealy.   Soft citrus bitterness up front, followed by a grainy/mealy background.   Can’t tell this is 8% at all, which is nice, but its not a very bright beer.   As a double Pale Ale, its not all that bitter, nor hoppy.   Has a stronger malt bill, which is fine, but its a bit out of balance.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes very pedestrian like, pale hops, almost stale, with slight grainy/mealy maltiness.   Pretty boring overall.   I had my hopes up...

16 oz can from "Lifesource" in Salem OR
What have we here a Hales beer, a company that has been around now 30 years but never seemed to make the top tier of "microbreweries" or even make it semi-big like Pyramid or Redhook. Ive had their beers before but hard to find even in Oregon.
Beer is a slightly hazy light amber/orange colour with a small cream coloured head.
Aroma surprisingly, given the description, is muted
a little floral and resin/herb but mostly caramel malts.
Taste is weird..dark coffee and weak pine needles start it off, the carmale malts calm it down and a regular pine hop takes over then goes..this gives me heart burn on the first swallow..not so good.
Mouth feel is thin and medium carbonation..no sign of alcohol.
Disappointing stuff for a 30th anniversary..well at least they lasted that long.

Amber in color clear with a thin head. Super IPA flavor and lots of hops. Love the citrus flavors and finish. Terrific IPA.
