3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 gracefullypunk (667) - USA - DEC 12, 2009
Pours mahogany red with minimal head. Aromas of vinegar (surprising), brown sugar and cherry. Taste is cherry sour, again surprising for an imperial stout. Some malts in the after as well as alcohol/whiskey. Nice.

Dark brown. The aroma has lots of dark malts with a heavy toffee accent. Herbal, fruity character with lots of deep, toasty malt notes.

Draft Big Wood 09. Sweet balsamic nose. Tight mollasses head and body. Bubblegum-scotch-stout. Sweet and intense, nice surprise.

On tap at Brouwer’s Big Wood 09. Poured a dark ruby amber. Smells like Duchesse - cidery fruits, slightly grassy - surprisingly big mouthfeel, with balsamic and a touch of tart strawberry layered over dark malts. Best so far from Hales - by far. Quote from @luttonm: "It’s a bubble-gum scotch stout."
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BuckeyeBoy (2147) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JAN 1, 2009
On tap at Brouwer’s Seattle. Pours out a nice black topped with a tan head. Aroma of roast malts along with some whiskey highs. Tast a little smoke, more of the thick roast malts and some of the ABV burn. Another tast treat from Hale’s.

Taster – Washington Winter Beer Festival – Seattle, WA – This was a barrel aged Impy Stout the flavors where woody with a hint of whiskey. The dark malts and the stout like flavors also added tot his beer. A very fine beer. Huge alcohol flavor.
