COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"El Jefe", translated, means "The Boss", or "The Chief". That's the position that this new hefeweizen from Hale's Ales aspires to. El Jefe pushes the wheat beer category to a new level --- . The flavor profile is "true Bavarian Style" -- complex and mouth-filling, with the spicey and fruity influences that only genuine hefeweizen yeast can produce. Craft beer lovers are ready to take this next step in their appreciation of the unique beers of the world. This is a beer that combines old world quality and character with new world freshness--the best of both worlds.

22 oz. bottle from grocery. Pale yellow pour with medium carbonation and a minimal head. Smells of banana and some wheat. Strong citrus/banana flavors with some sweetness. Nice finish with a bit of fizz. I like it.

On tap at Venti’s South. Crisp and well carbonated. Citrus and cloves balanced with a candy sweetness. Finish is dry with a touch of spice.

This hefeweizen is light and refreshing. Citrus notes in the middle replace the banana and bubble gum flavors so prevalent in the style. This pushes El Jefe solidly into the category of American wheat beer. It's probably my second favorite American wheat beer, behind Boulevard Wheat. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @ Wallingford Pizza House. Pours cloudy straw yellow. Aroma is light spice and citrus. Taste is tart wheat, crisp hops, light citrus, clove spice, and a clean dry finish. Light and delicious. Perfect with a lemon slice. Hale’s kinda flies under the radar in Seattle, but has the occasional gem like this.

Was great. Poured nice a smooth with a malty light head. Smell was like a German hefe. Which was impressive, great for a Seattle beer

Colour: cloudy yellow and orange mix. Nose: Salty butter, very ripe barley, fruit basket. Taste: Pineapple and grapefruit all over!, very tart, late mellow barley. One of the most puckering beers I’ve tasted, surprisingly tolerable though.

Spicy aroma. Nearly no head. Very clear fluorescent yellow. Lengthy sour finish but not overpowering. Not my favorite style, but would drink again.
