jmuhops (655), Winchester, Virginia, USA May 13, 2008 Pours hazy gold with a one-finger white head. A lot of banana in the aroma: a thick, somewhat unpleasant banana reminiscent of cheap banana-flavored gum. Sweet, citric flavor with an astringent banana finish.
Ibrew2or3 (1705), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Sep 1, 2008 On tap @ the brewpub. Pours up with mild haze on a straw to gold body, bright white head and nice lacing. The aroma is mostly bubble gum and wheat. I also get a bit of sweet malts. The taste is bold wheat along with a thin background of what seems like sweet honey to go along with mixing and melding notes of banana, bubble gum and pepper. after4ever (1717), Brier, Washington, USA Sep 1, 2008 22. Pours a hazy darkish amber with a thin grayish ring of bubbles. Sour banana nose. Medium body, almost getting a bit watery. Very faint sweetish clove note and plenty of banana in there. Neutral finish. Not much happening here. The_Beer_God (2837), Newport News, Virginia, USA Aug 9, 2008 Bottle. Hazy gold. Aroma is strong banana, soft wheat, yeast notes, lemon, bubblegum and alcohol. Taste is strong bubblegum and wheat with big yeast and lemon as well. The banana is there but tamed along with subtle hops and soft alcohol. Spices mingle throughout this. Body is medium with a creamy but bubbly carbonation. There’s a lingering bitterness through this one as well. Ends with more banana, spices, yeast, wheat, bubblegum and hops. Little bit more hoppy and bitter than I like my hefes but this is still pretty good. 17thfloor (649), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 8, 2008 Pours a unclear glowing orange with a large but thin sudsy white head. Aroma of ripe bananas, alcohol and lots of pink bubble-yum. Flavor is the same... sweet pink chalky bubble-yum, very bitter finish. Kinda doughy and sugary sweet upfront. Average palate, medium/light body with larger carbonation bubbles. Crafty07 (334), Lexington, Kentucky, USA Aug 5, 2008 Tasty but forgettable Hefe from the brilliants folks at Hales ales. This German hefe by way of Seattle is not quite as banana-y and clove-y as others from this type.
But it’ll refresh.
