From Hales Ales: "Mongoose IPA is decidedly different than Hales India Pale Ale. It has more of an aromatic hop character, which gives it a nice little bite. It is very full bodied, so after the first few sips to 'acclimate' the palate to the hops you will find a balance of malt and hops - a very satisfying ale."

Bomber bottle. Poured a slightly cloudy copper color with a light white head. Nice lacing. Aroma is hoppy but kind of off. Not a normal IPA hoppy aroma. Mouthfeel is nice. Flavor is very bitter and not much else. Heavy in grapefruit, but none of the floral hoppiness of the good IPAs. I was excited that this was available in Kansas, but this really let me down.

Hazy yellow pour with good white head. Aroma of grass, lemon, spear mint. Well balanced with a minty, piney bitter finish. Nice.

Pale IPA, seems mild at first, but has lingering hops/grapefruit on the finish, and stays on the palate for a while. Interesting take on the style.

Pours golden, with a thick white head. Very floral aroma and taste. A little sweet. Not quite what I look for in an IPA but overall its not bad.

Hazy, honey colored with rocky white head. Aroma is minimal, and taste is sweet and somewhat husky with floral honey notes. $2/12oz

Bottled: unk a: hazy apricot ale with under a finger of fleeting white foam. This leaves and etched surface. Rare spot lace. S: grapefruit biscuits. T: The hops are present, pretty tame for a NW IPA. Hints of pineapple, peach and tropical fruitiness is an undertone to the resin and pine sap hops. The malts are decent with some sweetness and dryness. M: Medium on thick for they style with moderate carb and dry finish. O: Very easy to drink for an IPA. Has english tones and some NW hardiness. Serving type: bottle 12-08-2011

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours pale yellowish golden with medium white lacey head. Aroma is a hint of pale malt and thin floral piney hops. Taste is light caramel malt balanced by citrusy earthy floral hops. Finishes pleasantly bitter. Pretty low abv for an IPA. Interestingly, you’ll rarely find this on tap around Seattle anymore; with a heftier abv and hop presence Supergoose has largely replaced it.

Bottle. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy sour citrus hop aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of medium to long duration. Very good brew.
