Commercial Description:
First brewed in 1988, O’Brien’s Harvest Ale is a much anticipated autumn classic and one of the Northwest’s original seasonal ales. For the last 21 years Hale’s brewers have ushered in the fall season by crafting a delicious, hearty seasonal ale that features generous amounts of select hops. This year’s O’Brien’s Harvest Ale is a reintroduction of the recipe we used in 2007 which was a Silver Medal winner at GABF.

This has an excellent hoppy aroma. Great flavorful beer. Interesting that they made a harvest amber. First rating, 3.6 A quite fruity aroma. This is strange. Fruity and malty with a bitter finish. Little to no head. Interesting.

Love the fall season, love these hearty brews that warm the tummy and are also yummy. Big malts and nice hop bite, caramel and fruits are present for a complex mix. Quite drinkable.

Draft at Hale’s, alongside their amazingly good grilled meat load. Pours a deep, very-slightly hazy coppery orange. Thick moussy light tan head. Big c-hop bouquet; grapefruit, pine, maybe some lemon. Super bold attack; off the charts for an amber: thick body, active carb, ultra assertive flavors. Biscuit, caramel, toast, nut, pine, grapefruit, and bitter resin thicken up the palate. Lingering bitter finish. Very like a kick-ass IPA. Gotta be the best amber on the face of the planet, but...is it really an amber?

I do not know how I forgot to rate this one, I was sure that I had. This stuff is awesome! I would like to have a couple of cases, one to drink and one to lay down. A very nice brown pour with a nice white head, and great lacing. The aroma is hoppy to say the least, a strong ale in the flavor, and a beautifully balanced malt character bring up the back to balance it all out. Finish is slightly acidic and citrusy but in a good way. This is a great take on an APA, a truly wonderful fall seasonal.

Pint, on draft at Virginia Inn, Seattle, WA. Dark copper with thin light head, could smell the hops as it was served to my beermat. Wonderful citrus and light pine aroma, hints of grass and lemon. So much good hop in the nose. The body was perfect, rich sweet malts to balance the big hops. Surprised at the gravity here and the gracious amount of alcohol. It’s a big beer that is the perfect vehicle for the big fresh harvested hop delivery. eaten witha nice cheeseplate on the outside patio watching the tourists walk by...perfect.

Golden amber color with head that stays until the end and doesn't vanish until the end. Lacing stays all the way around until the end. Aroma is full of piping fresh hops, very floral and simply delicious on a fall afternoon. Flavor is slightly bitter but mainly sweet. Finishes with a well balanced sweet from the malt and bite from the hops. This is a great seasonal, I don't know why more people haven't tried this.
