(Draught) Creamy, almond head with a mildly cloudy orange body. Nose of cascade hops, mild caramel malt. Very creamy, some watery texture with a bitter cascade finish. Above average.

UPDATED: OCT 3, 2009 Not a lot of aroma. Orange in color. Looks okay. This has a nice hop flavor throughout. A little fruity. A quite bitter finish. I could drink a lot of this beer. Had a second time and wrote almost the same stuff.

12 oz can. Poured a clear yellow color, small white head. Aroma is a light hop and malt. Flavor is light hop, sweetness. This was a nice sweet, refreshing beer.

12oz shorty bottle. Orange-tan color, medium sized patchy head. Fresh, astringent, piny, seawater aroma. The taste is moderately hoppy, with some solid earthy, soapy greenness. The malt side of the equation leaves a little bit to desired, it’s quite thin and watery really. The hops certainly dominate. A West Coast session ale, not bad by any means but not great either.

Bottle... Poured an amberish/orange with a thick, white head. Floral aroma of hops and sweet malts. Well balanced brew of malted grains and earthy hops. Not bitter, but not under hopped at all. A crisp, fruit and honey sweetness in there too.

Draft at Hales Ales, Seattle, WA. Ivory head that was mostly lasting with a fair amount of lacing, transparent, very little carbonation observed, and an orange hue. Nose was malty, hoppy and fruity and carried over to the flavor. Smooth mouthfeel and light-medium body. Quaffable and very easy to drink. Nicely done.

Clear light amber with a medium off-white head, very bubbly and active. Aroma of grains, malt and a light floral and citrus hop bouquet. Taste of citrus with mild sweet malt and floral hops. Moderate bitter finish.

355ml bottle pours a slightly hazy golden color with a finger of white head that leaves some thin spotty lacing. Aroma is light fruits, light malts and mild hops. Taste is light fruits with some underlying malt sweetness and a mild citrus and grass hop bitterness. A decent and drinkable pale ale, but there are certainly better ones out there.

Bottle from Everything Washington, Seattle, WA. Pours an average amber with a slight head and minimal lacing. Aroma is strong strawberry offset by sweet citrus. Notes of grapefruit in there as well. Bad bottle??? Coppery grapefruit flavor. Hmmm. Just read another rating; apparently I’m not the only one to notice the metallic taste. As close to undrinkable as one can get, but I’ll finish it out of principal. Won’t be buying this again.

This beer had the nice, pungent hop aroma characteristic of many of Hales other offerings, but its body lacked the crispness. This beer, maybe my least favorite Hales ale, would be a decent selection coming from most other breweries.
