5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Okay here is my 5 star rating, with one caveat. They made a limited release 20th Anniversary Pale that was without peer. By far the best ale Hales has ever produced. I want it all the time! It has come and gone but the memory of it lingers. I donít know if they will ever recreate it but I sure wish they would. That said the Pale Ale is a great session beer that stands on its own.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Can bought at the Yakima Beer Shoppe.
Aroma: Fragrant. Floral, mikan, ruby grapefruit, passion fruit.
Palate: Quite smooth, medium bodied; filling but without heaviness.
Flavor: Ruby grapefruit, some passion fruit, apricot, grassy hop on the finish.
Comment: Wow! I havenít had this for years, but I now I really appreciate how well-made it is. Reasonably priced to boot. This calls for a road trip to the brewery.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
[3/3/15] Draught at Hales Ales Brewery & Pub in Seattle. Clear golden. Aroma of citric and floral hops and mild maltiness. Flavor has mild sweetish malt and nice bitter citric hops. Medium-bodied. Nice.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a hazy orange color with a light carbonation to be seen rising to fill a rapidly dieing one finger white foamy head. Light lacing started to cling and then slid.
The smell had a decent sweet caramel maltiness running along into a light citrus blend.
The taste was a combined sweet caramel and citrus aspect to it. A light citrus aftertaste leads to a semi-dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. It was nicely carbonated.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good APA that I could have again.

1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tumbler on 05.09.14.
A: Orange/red. No head or lacing. Chunks were floating in it.
S: Biscuit, citrus.
T: Burnt flavor, citrus, metal.
O: I thought that this was a bad bottle because of the sediment, but it is bottle fermented according to the label. This is the second go around with this beer. The first one that I had was the same with chunks and all so maybe they have QC problems. Like the first time, this was also a drain pour.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz bottle, not the ultra patriotic can. Medium head fades to a moderate lacing. Orange colored beer. Clear and filtered throughout. Its got too much caramel and too much American bitter hops, not my fav. Lots of dusty British malt as well. These are the exact Pale Ales I donít like.

1.1 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20
Barely avoided being voted as a drainpour by five tasters at the brewpub in Seattle. Seemed to be artificially flavored. A keeper. Meaning, please keep it, do not serve it any more.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle, purchased from Brennanís in Madison during GTMW. Mostly hazy golden orange color. Fine particles suspended in the body hazing it up. Thin off-white head, leaving good thicker lace. Medium body. Kind of slick texture. Kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. Kind of a bready malt flavor, lightly grainy. Lighter on the hop. Some light pine, herbal hop. Little bit of citrus. Moderate sweet taste, light bit of bitterness. OK, kind of sweeter malt-forward pale ale (who knows how old it is). Luckily itís not a big caramely malt sweetness though, itís solidly pale.
