nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Sep 19, 2009 Updated: Sep 20, 2009Bomber. Opaque with a lasting creamy quarter-inch head. Nose is varnish, nut shells and coffee. Taste is mixed berries with a vinous twang, some coffee, oats, bread dough and more fruity alcohol. Medium heavy body is watery and smoothly carbonated. All the elements of a good Impy are here except flavor and aroma. highibus (421), Mill Creek, Washington, USA Aug 16, 2009 Deep black with milk chocolate colored head. Aroma is nutty and roasted. Flavor is lightly astringent. Kind of ruins the beers. But good mouthfeel and decent finish. Cletus (5002), Connecticut, USA Aug 5, 2009 Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Smells of chocolate, roasted malt, some spice, peppery. Tastes of dark fruit, soy sauce, roasted malt, some weird brine like hints on the finish. obguthr (987), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Jul 2, 2009 Wonderfully complex aroma of marshmallow, soy sauce, charcoal, and figs. Black, viscous pour, no head. Dates, charred oak, and currants, off balanced and quite sour. I swear I taste limes too. Charred oak and smoke finish. With better balance and more earthy notes, this would rock. snakeoilpete (324), Seattle, Washington, USA Jun 13, 2009 On tap at Hale’s. Pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma is smoky, peaty, roasty malts with coffee, chocolate, and molasses. These strangely blend together in the taste like a sweet, tangy citrusy BBQ sauce (orange/lime). Medium bodied with that BBQ finish. Not bad as a beer, but probably more impressive as a marinade. robforbes (1083), Bremerton, Washington, USA May 12, 2009 pours an opaque with a thin brown head, and no lacing.
smell of licorice, some sour malt, espresso, cocoa, and some smoke.

Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Apr 26, 2009 Bomber. Pitch black with a decent tan head. Very roasty/burnt nose, some chocolate. Creamy chocolate and light fruit flavors.
