Very nice blend of roasty coffee and chocolate with lots of acidity in the finish and a thinner body. The acidity emphasized the fruitiness in the finish and finished with a bit of saltiness and smoke. Oakes (8080), gone rambling, Vietnam

Beef jerky & chocolate body with a toasty note. Moderate intensity and thickness for style. A good starter impy. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 27, 2005 Tar black, oily with a thick brown head. This has the beef jerky meaty aroma, with some soy, salt, coffee and burnt wood. Flavour lives upto the aroma, with a meaty flavour, caramel and some wood. Tasty. Big sweet malt aroma, beef jerky, succulent, salty licorice aroma. Flavour of salted meat, caramel, a bit of oak, light smoke, herbs and a long roasty finish. A good imperial stout. tobias (155), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 20, 2005 22 oz bottle: pours pitch black with a creamy brown head. the aroma is of coffee, chocolate, raisin/plum and molasses. the aroma is the best part. the flavor is too burnt, sour and acidic in my opinion to be an impy. is it possible i got a bad batch? the flavos is slightly smokey with a dry finish. not a bif fan of this beer at all. aracauna (2374), Georgia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 31, 2004 This is a bit of a disappointment for an imperial stout. The appearance is really quite nice with a pitch black body under a dense, if smallish, brown head. The aroma is pretty good too, with coffee, black chocolate and a grape or plum fruitiness. The flavor is where this one falls apart. The flavor is thin and salty with a slightly tart finish that is disappointing after the rest of the aspects. Finishes with a smokey, charred malt finish. motelpogo (4394), Plzen, Czech Republic

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 4, 2004 Updated: Dec 5, 2004Bottle Pours about as black as it gets witha lively, short lived foamy red-brown head. In fact, in about a ninute, the head is gone. And I mean GONE. No lacing. Even after a swirll. Aroma is wonderfull. Sweet, chocolately, and there is that Purple Grape jelly again. Some whiskey barrel notes as well. Flavors are a smokey sour fairly dry taste. Not much else. A bit boring and simple actually. Why cant these taste as good as they smell. A big tease. Not bad after all just a bit of a let down. Finish is slightly chalky, carbonation is a bit lively. A smokey, not too bitter aftertaste. I’ll be trading away the others I have probly.
