| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 9, 2006 A burnt oil black pour. An aroma of toasted malt. A very dry pour with no head or lace. A flavor of burnt coffee with the sour bitter of old lemonade. Not to special. I wonder if this beer is past it’s prime. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 20, 2006 22 oz bottle, via acertain. Pours a deep inky black colored body that swallows all light that enters. Head is dark brown and foamy with excellent retention. Aroma is very roasty with alot of chocolate and anise notes and a touch of alcohol. A slight sour mash note as well as some chalk finally. The flavor is more thin than the aroma would indicate. It’s somewhat astringent and a little sour on the finish. Otherwise, burnt malt, licorice, light chalk, and no apparent alcohol. The mouthfeel is lighter bodied for an Imperial Stout with a very slightly oily texture and very fine soft carbonation. This was OK, but really on the lighter end of the spectrum for an Imperial Stout, lacking in depth of flavor and character as well as mouthfeel. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA
