Pours a deep, deep amber caramel color w/ a medium, semi creay froth with beachball spatter. Lacing is faint w/ a thin ring. Aroma of fat, chewy caramel malts and a slight hop crispness. Medium to full nectar w/ mellow residual effers. This brew is chewy w/ thick malts hinting at caramel. There a defined citrus rind componant bursting through from start to finish rendering a bludgeoning bittering factor. This brew rocks. Highly recommended.

This is an excellent ESB. "Amber" doesn’t do it justice. Great body, big citrus with the bitterness. Lovely colour. Yum!

Deep reddish-amber color with a thin tan head. Good lacing. Hops and malt on the nose. Bigger than what I was expecting....good hop flavor (grapefruit and pine) mixed with nice sweet caramel malt tones.

Medium orange amber, nice head that just leaves a sheet of lace on the glass, beautiful beer. Aroma is quite hoppy and inviting, a touch of floral and lots of grapefruit. Flavor is sweet, a bit of caramel, then a good bit of grapefruit. Some green apple as well, and a bit of yeast. Really liked this, I’m on a roll with ambers today.

A balance of malts and hops. Very red in color. This is a pretty nice amber. Goodmalt flavor with a hint of hops at the end. A little bit of caramel. Low carbonation on all of hales beers.

Little aroma, dominated by Carmel malt. Looks great. Medium amber body. Good malt taste with just enough hops to balance.

Nice amber color, large off white head that has a good hang time then fades slowly to leave a decent lace behind. The aroma was malty with a nice hop presence and maybe a slight fruit and caramel side coming through as well. The flavor was very nice.malty up front with a mild but decent sweetness then it changes to a nice hoppy flavor with a medium bitterness and some mild caramel notes coming on as the brew warms up.I don’t know i think it’s a little under rated but i guess to each his own.

Bottle from Ivar’s in Seattle, summer ’06. Pours a thin amber with a very high level of carbonation, the latter of which turns me off with most beers. Aroma is sweet hops with orange and pine dominating. Flavor is a bit ol’ bite of hops with orange, grapefruit, and strawberry bringing up the rear of this flavor parade. Full and coating mouthfeel. Fantastic beer; definitely will repeat this one.
