A strong aroma like Whiskey. Roasted Coffee and sour notes. A think mouthfee. An oaky, astringent finish. Just plain different.

Nena (963) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 5, 2009
Draft at Brouwer’s Bigwood ’09. Pours a very dark brown with a thin beige head. This was an odd one. Aroma is quite coffee-like with a bit of earth and tartness. Flavor is again toasty coffee, with balsamic vinegar, nuts, funk, dark fruit, and oak. Has a flavor profile not unlike a stout with funky tartness mixed in. A strange but not unpleasant flavor combination.

draft at bigwood. pours nearly black with a dense creamy grayish tan head. tart balsamic nose with tons of wood showing. creamy medium body, not much carb. tons of oak and balsamic on the mid palate, along with some nice dark fruit. tangy fruit finish.

riversideAK (4567) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - SEP 12, 2009
Dark brown pour, beige head, tons of lace. Earthy nose with lots of dark malt, and some tartness, a hint of oak perhaps. Lightly tart upfront, earthy, woody, funky tartness in the finish that lingers. Soft carbonation, thin body. Some band aids in the finish.

3fourths (6407) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 18, 2009
Dark brown/deep red colored body, tan head. Caramel and light roast/char in the nose, some nuts and wet band aid. I believe this is a slightly soured (read: infected) stout but it comes across as a poor example of oud bruin. Wet bran, oxidized caramel malt, woody, slightly nutty, faint acidity. Full and frothy texture, thick. Tangy and spritzy at times, but overall just a terrible experience. Nothing flavorful or positive about this.
