COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When you set out to make a beer that's gonna keep a troll happy, it better have a lot to chew on. This one does. Troll Porter pushes the porter category to a new edge--big, complex, quite black with herbal hop influences--enough to keep that grouchy old troll off your back, at least for a while... Ingredients:Pale malted barley, Carastan, Caramel, Chocolate, Black and Special Roast Malts, Nugget and Mount Hood hops, Hale's special yeast and filtered water.

22 oz. bottle from QFC. My ex-girlfriend actually modeled for this bottle! I hate that fucking troll, but I wish him the best. This has a nice opaque black body. It has a soft and wispy head. Wait...the head is gone. The head sits around the circumference of this beer. This porter looks pretty, pretty, pretty good. This has a heavy roast aroma accompanied by a nice soft smokiness. Touches of chocolate hit my nose. Somewhat of a milky flavor, with a roast, chocolate, and subtle smoke flavor that really makes this a stellar, and under-appreciated porter. Itís quite easy to drink, and has a long-lasting roast flavor that is quite delicious. The only thing that is keeping me from giving this a really high score is that milky flavor. Iíve never been a fan of that because it almost seems borderline infected with an off flavor like that. Overall, pretty good stuff from a brewery that, typically, underwhelms.

Black color/ tan head. Mild dry dark roast malt, coffee aromas. smooth easy mouthfeel. Very nice chocolate, coffee, medium roast malt flavors with a nice bitterness to balance--tasty porter.

2010-07-03. Very dark brown black body, small creamy tan head fades. 3+ Roasty aroma, dry coffee like notes, mild ashen touches. 6+ Flavour is similar, dry roast, mild sweet malt core. Lingering light roast. Smooth average to light palate is light for the beer. Okay. On tap at Hales, Seattle

[3093-20100703] Tap. Fruity apple cherry wood alcohol aroma has mild cigarette notes. Brown black body with a long-lasting creamy light tan head. Lots of mid-notes in the flavour with smoky wood fruit and noticeable grainy alcohol. Medium-full body. Like kissing a smoker... or a giant cement troll.

Pours a nice dark brown with a mild caramel head. The taste is slightly bitter with a rotten eggs taste mixed with a rusted nails . I am extremely disappointed with this one. I ordered it from bottle trek and paid shipping and handling on this one what a waste. Now I drank this after a long trail coffee stout but there is no comparison.

Black bodied with decent head. This one treads the sweet and imperial stout boundaries, combining the best of both. Rich, deep chocolate aroma with some black patent complexity and hints of chocolate alcohol. The flavor is similar. Smooth, deep, full-bodied roasted malting. Rich dark chocolate and some black patent twinge and a touch or raisin.

Pours opaque/black. Almost no head, and what was there to begin with dissipated within moments. Nose is dissapointingly faint but cocoa/chocolatey. Palate is a blast of roasted malt, dark chocolate, and coffee. Simply amazing combination here. Worth it! Finish is medium long and roasty.

10th October 2008. GABF. Made with toasted coconut. The sweetness of the coconut offsets the porter flavours well, especially in the dry finish.

On tap at the brewpub 2/14/9. Pours dark brown to black with a dark tan head. This is fairly roasted for a porter. Good lacing. Finishes with a strong sourness on the mid tongue. Chocolate and roasted malt flavors, but a bit thin in body. Pretty good, but not outstanding.

Bomber. Dark brown; almost all foam, even with an easy pour. Faint coffee, orange and cocoa aroma. Flavor is coffee, citrus, sawdust and caramel. Near-medium body is roasty dry and a tad too airy.
