If a troll requests a pint of porter, you’d better have a good, big one to offer. Troll Porter fits that bill. Black, round and complex, with mocha and chocolate overtones and a fine hop profile. Very tasty brew. 6.6% ABV 31 IBUs Malts: 2-Row Pale ~ Crystal 75L & 120L ~ Munich ~ Special Roast ~ Chocolate ~ Carafa III ~ Torrefied Wheat Hops: Apollo ~ East Kent Goldings Original Gravity: 16.5° Plato

Pours opaque/black. Almost no head, and what was there to begin with dissipated within moments. Nose is dissapointingly faint but cocoa/chocolatey. Palate is a blast of roasted malt, dark chocolate, and coffee. Simply amazing combination here. Worth it! Finish is medium long and roasty.

10th October 2008. GABF. Made with toasted coconut. The sweetness of the coconut offsets the porter flavours well, especially in the dry finish.

On tap at the brewpub 2/14/9. Pours dark brown to black with a dark tan head. This is fairly roasted for a porter. Good lacing. Finishes with a strong sourness on the mid tongue. Chocolate and roasted malt flavors, but a bit thin in body. Pretty good, but not outstanding.

Bomber. Dark brown; almost all foam, even with an easy pour. Faint coffee, orange and cocoa aroma. Flavor is coffee, citrus, sawdust and caramel. Near-medium body is roasty dry and a tad too airy.

Cream-coloured head, diminishing. Dark. Malty aroma, hints of coffee, redcurrant, blackberry and rasberry. Creamy feeling. Then dry, a bit bitter and a finish that resembles that metallic taste of blood. Purchased in Seattle, shared at the Superpower beer session part II in Tromsø 29.01.09

Pretty roasty. A somewhat thickish porter. Quite a bit of coffee in this. Flavor is okay, not amazing.

22 oz. bottle purchased at World Market in Newport News, VA. Beautiful black pour with creamy tan head. Aroma of floral hops and some roasted malts. Flavor is a bit to citrusy for a porter and really dominates over the coffee and smoke flavors that are faintly present in the background. The mouthfeel, however, is superb; thick and rich. Overall a decent porter. I feel that if the hops had been toned down a bit this could have been outstanding.

Dark with a medium tan head. Some light roasted notes and a surprising amount of citrus hops mixed with molasses. Odd. Flavor is much the same. Very sour, as well. Thin, carbonated mouth. I was really looking for more in this one. Can’t say I’m a fan.

Pint at Hales. Black with a thin head. Attractive dark malt scent. Strong dark bitter porter. Hint of molasses. An agressive dark beer. Hops and spice. Prune and raisin. Dark malt flavour. A little more adventerous than the norm.

On tap at Hales. Had decent expectations for this one, but yet again it was not very good. Color was dark brown. Aroma of roasted malt with a touch of sweet malt. Flavor was of fruit, roasted malt, with a bit of chalkiness.
