bottle in trade from michaelinwa. Nice aroma on this one - malty caramel and dark fruits? nice thicker palata. slight warming alcohol at end of taste (with hops). For me it just didn’t quite all come together - parts better than whole THanks Mike!

Bottle (12oz $1.80): Golden brown with 1-2 finger white head. This was different than other Wee Heavys I have had. Its sweet and bitter. medium plus body.. syrupy.

12oz bottle poured into Gordon’s thistle glass. Surprisingly there is some particles, floaties in this beer despite the clear bottom of the bottle. A dark amber-brown color. A glow o the beer with low clarity. A medium sized head that leaves a surface covering lacing. Aroma is slightly grassy with a slightly syrupy malt character. Its not hoppy, its not too sweet (yet there is a faint barley syrup candy aspect). In the flavor there is also a bit of toffee and slightly fruity. But this is pretty damn good for a six pack Scotch Ale. Medium body with an aftertaste of light fruit-syrup.

Draught at Hales Ales Brewery and Pub
Cloudy dark amber color with creamy head. Light aroma. Smooth mouthfeel, quite round, with moderate residual sweetness; good Scottish malt flavor, lightly smokey, lean, lightly fruity; correct bitterness.
Pleasant drink.

Bottle. Pours a hazy brown color with a smallish off-white head on it. Nose has a little bit of toast and nuts in there, with just a hint of some spices in there. Taste is also pretty spicy, with a hint of some sweetness up front. Meh.

Bottle from the Wine and Beer Haus, Seaside, OR. Caramel malt aroma with some hoppiness. Pours a deep caramel color with a thin beige head and very little lacing. Caramel malt flavor though a little watery. Finishes dry with some hops as well as some metallic flavors which is unfavorable. Ok scotch ale but the finish isn't good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled: unk, vintage 2011 A: dark ruddy copper with little head formation and only a target formation of foam. No lace. S: bread pudding smell with caramelized sugars and some bread and cinnamon. Has a slightly aged smell to it. T: Sweet with the slightest bitter and sharp edge to it. I’ve come to find a nice, subtle alcoholic blade in a Wee Heavy goes a long way to help harden the beer. This is no slouch. Some honey notes and rye bread flavors. M: Medium on heavy with low carb and a semi dry finish. Nothing special, but suited for the style. O: Decent beer. I would drink again in a heartbeat. Great for the season (or maybe a little colder). Serving type: bottle 11-30-2011

Pours amber with a nice sized light tan head that slowly dissipates. The nose is malt. Very creamy texture, the taste is very malty with some caramel sweetness. A touch of hops on the finish gives this brew a very balance taste profile. Very satisfying brew. Try it with nuts or smoke cheese.

Sample at the brewpub. Dark mahogany color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Toasted malt, fruit and hops in the nose. Medium body with flavors of dark fruit, earthy malt and hops. The finish is sweet with a caramel malt aftertaste. Decent overall.
