In 2008 wed been selling contract brewed beer for a while and were in the throws of building a brewery. Matt stepped away and traveled to Boston for the Craft Brewers Conference. During his stay, Dan and Dave from Maine Beer Company came across Matt roaming the conference. They called him over and realized that they were all going through the same challenges trying to erect a new brewery. Time had us both finding our legs and landing on solid footing.

Recently, Maine Beer Co started moving some beer to Chicago so they flew out to make beer with us. Collaboration beers boil down to enjoyment spiked with the opportunity to learn. Dan and Dave came to visit our brewery after nailing down a recipe. We discussed approach, whats happening in our local and national brewing worlds, ate great meals and the beer was brewed. In the fall well travel east and spend time in their world, which is drastically different from our own.

All said, were lifting our heads up from our work to dig into someone elses perspective and experience. As breweries, we make beer in much the same way, but have sharp contrast in our visual ends. This time, the result will be a hoppy session ale worked up from a joint recipe that was named and designed by Maine Beer Co. In the fall, well again work on the recipe together, but Half Acre will name and design their beer.

Poured from a bomber with no bottling date. Bottle from kaser Aroma - Honestly, a very good aroma. Tropical goodness Appearance - Clear golden color with plenty of bubbles coming up. Taste - Very bubbly at first, then a bitter end. Completely different from the front and back. Palate - lots of bubbles lingering, about what I would expect from a session IPA Overall - Not bad...I would definitely have again

Bottle. Poured clear copper color with an average white frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate earthy hop and toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium earthy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good drinkable brew that exceeded my expectations.

Pour from a bomber, thanks to tmoney99 for sharing! Mostly clear golden orange color. Thin white head. Leaves a few bits of lace. Light to medium body. Smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Nice grassy zesty hop character. Clean bready malt, but definitely hop forward. Moderate bitter taste. light sweet. Great, tasty bright and refreshing session IPA.

Enjoyed from draft on a great early summer Saturday hanging out in the park. Appearance is a cloudy gold with a thin white head. Aroma of light hop spice, leafy dry hop, smell is nice. Taste is great and session able, nice light hop profile, very enjoyable. Good stuff.

Draft at the taproom. Pours a clear, golden yellow color with a white head and some lacing. Aroma is hoppy, pine, some light grapefruit citrus. Medium on the palate with creamy carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty, light cereal, some pine hops, grapefruit, pineapple, with a dry, bitter, pine finish. A nice pale ale.

Draft on tap at the taproom (Chicago, IL). Pours a golden glowing hue, mellow haziness compliments well with frothy whitish head as a firm layer, nice lacing and stick around as a firmly coating film. Aromas are a bit dry and bitter, mellow fruit and earth meet, some florals and gentle earthy grains, subtle bread and mellow fruit. The nose ends up with subtle melon as we get further in. Initial is cleaner and light in body, some gentle citrus, mellow melon and faint honeydew element. Gentle citrus, subtle florals meet crisp grain, bready malts. Middle is a bit more melon, nice gentle jabs of citrus, decent florals and a bit of fuzziness starts to grow. Decent to middling bitterness picks up. Florals, subtle green leaf, more melon and gentle fruity quality. Clean, light, prettyu crushable. The flavor element grows over time, no blunt force strike up front.. Instead picking up some power as a wave. Nice melon, gentle citrus and a good floral and decent bitterness tack on. Some touches of fruit, crisp grain, clean bitter hops and earth finish this bad boy. Not complex but nuanced and well constructed, I could drink a good deal of this if offered. But as far as potentcy or "wow" elements, it lacks compared to other Session IPA types Ive had at comparable ABVs. Still quite soundly constructed and pretty easy to put down. Distinct melon, fruit, and good complimenting hop elements that work on this crisp, light winner of a session beer. Nice. The nose may not deliver but the ber itself does.

Draft. Pours clear orangey gold. Aroma is very pleasant crackery malt, citrus zest, grassy hops, grapefruit, watermelon. Refreshing. Taste is crackery malt, peach, lemon zest, lime, pine, almost halfway between a pale ale and a hoppy pils. Light, slightly watery. On a hot day like this, Plain Jane, while a little plain, is hard to beat.
