22 ounce nottle courtesy of CaptainCougar, thank you sir! Boy, I wish I could read my handwriting. I remember this one as a middle of the road saison that was pleasant enough.

Bottle either 2010 or 2011 and served in a Half Acre snifter: pours a clean golden hue with a fizzy head and okay lace. This is what happens when you dig around your "cellar" and find a Saison that you had no idea you had and had no intention of aging. Good news is that it is still quite drinkable even if the lemon has likely faded as has any pronounced hop profile. Nice whisper-y pale grain and flowery character along with a dash of yeast spices. No noticeable aging effects like cardboard nor band-aid. Actually it is more than just drinkable, it is pretty damn tasty.

TheAlum (5575) - Lisle, Illinois, USA - SEP 17, 2010
22 oz bottle from the brewery (Chicago, IL). Half Acre’s first showing at a Belgian. Pours a glowing golden straw, maybe a tinge of orange, a frothy small brighter white head dies to a good film, heavier edges, small lacing. Aromas are pear and apple, a lively fruity Belgian yeast moves into bready and doughy malts. A bit one dimensional with a light floral hopping. Light crisp sweet honey, vanilla, more fruity pear and apple. Initial is lighter bodied, honey and lemons, apple and pear, a bit astringent and tart with bready and doughy malts. Hops aren’t really there. Apple cider-esque. More lemon rind and citrus, a touch of herbal florals. Finish is sweet and a bit tart, faint hopping. Not their best effort at Half Acre. Stick to the hops and darker beers with said hops. Tartness wins a point or two, one dimensional feel and sweetness loses it some. Belgian Ale yes, Saison not really..
