Another chance to catch on Half Acre while dropped in to Mariaís Community Bar. On draft, and on Mondayís itís $5! Deal me in! Solid black of course, but with a thin, tan head. Smell starts with coffee and black licorice, which can be a little out of my comfort zone. Taste, though, is silky and oily at the same time. A lower bubble level helps bring in the impression of Kahlua with vanilla, as the anise on the nose is not found on the tongue. Still potent, but oddly not as forceful with the alcohol as the Chairman I just has was. Despite the potential for harsh roastiness, this beer is very very mellow. May not have all the bells and whistles as a Dark Lord, and you may still only be get bottles one day a year, but by George, you can find some on tap afterwards/

2014 bottle. Black with a decent brown head. Nice coffee notes in the aroma. Rich coffee taste, roasty, faint hint of smoke. Coffee gives it a nice bitterness to counteract the sweetness. Thereís not a whole heap of complexity, but whatís there is pretty tasty.

Opened for Elís housewarming. The artwork on this beer is insanely good. This stout comes across typically American. Big and ballsy with that distinct vanilla thread running through it. Sweet and plummy with loads of milk chocolate and mild sultana. Hides the strength very well. Solid as drop

At Richís Massive Cellar Emptying Tasting, not sure which year but I was grateful to try this Chicago classic. Deep black with ruby highlights, umami, herbal, dark cocoa. Medium bodied with a soft mouthfeel. Coffee, dark chocolate fairly dry finish and tannic bitterness. Good stuff 10% but well hidden.

On tap at 2015 GTMW, pours a very dark brown almost black with a thin brown head and some lacing, the aroma has a decent amount of chocolate and roast with cocoa touch too, the flavor has a decent amount of chocolate at first with as sweeter finish, mouthfeel seems a little thin but still not bad, enjoyable.

22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, light notes of coffee, some molasses, hints of dark fruits, a light bitterness, and some dough. Flavor the same with a great malt profile, balanced very nicely. Thick texture. A good imperial stout.

2014 bottle courtesy of a free beer contest. THANKS! Pours pitch black with a nice deep brown head. Aroma is only light coffee, roast, dark fruits, molasses. Flavor follows only light on the coffee, nice big body, rich, sweet, chocolate, molasses, some dark fruit. Overall very nice beer but I expected more from the coffee.

Pour in a snifter from a 22 oz. Aroma is weak coffee and light citrus. Flavor is of strong coffee but not overbearing. Not bitter. Slight fruitiness. Dry finish. Iím not usually a coffee stout guy but this was surprisingly decent.

Bottle aged from 4/13 - pours black with minimal head but a persistent tan ring of head and nice lacing. Nose of coffee, roasted and caramel malts, cocoa, vanilla and milk. Lively carbonation which is nice to see after 2 yrs in the cellar. Vanilla, roasted malts, nuttiness, subtle raisins, milk chocolate splendidness. Drinkable and surprised at the ABV so well balanced ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
