Draft at Lincoln Square Winter Brew. Opaque black pour with robust lingering khaki head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee (hint of burnt wood). Taste is roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Very silky mouthfeel, nice balance finish. Would never guess that this is 10%. Tremendous.

Bomber, black pour, minor head. Nose is Hersey syrup. Taste is bitter chocolate with a touch of coffee. On the lighter and more carbonated side for an imperial stout. Kinda like a thinner version of a tier chocolat with a hint of coffee

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JAN 28, 2014 22oz bomber poured into a snifter. The coffee-forward nature of this one comes through immediately. A blend of fresh ground and fresh roasted coffee beans burst through. This is accompanied by an undertone of dark cherry and maybe some melon (cantaloupe?). A bit of caramel aroma peaks through as well as the hint of alcohol. Itís a deep, rich red-brown, nearly opaque pour with a milky brown head. Initially it appears that this oneíll have nice head retention, but it slowly retreats to a thin, wispy layer leaving very trace amounts of lacing along the glass. Medium-heavy sweet malty flavoring deriving from dark fruits and milk chocolate hit the tongue first, but quickly give way to a mellow, but very much present, coffee bitterness. Creamy texture, medium body, aided by above average carbonation in the mouth makes this a dangerously smooth beer - especially to an experienced coffee addict!.It does get slightly sticky near the end of the bottle and finishes with a decent alcohol kick - although itís fairly mellow, not really offensive by any means - which provides a nice warming quality to the swallow. This fades to a mild roasted coffee aftertaste with some spiciness to it (Iím thinking licorice / anise), but itís a very mild and light aftertaste at that

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled, 2012 version (Big Hugs vs Mechahugs), about one year old. Dark brown/black with a small, light tan head that diminishes down to a thin, frothy ring. Aroma is moderately rich with notes of dark chocolate, light-to-moderate bourbon, maple syrup, espresso beans, mild oak. Moderately high black coffee bitterness that quickly mellows into bakers chocolates, toasted marshmallows, lightly charred wood and earth. Lingering aftertaste is of roasted malts and nutty coffee. Outside of the bourbon aromas and a mild nip in the immediate aftertaste, there isnít much alcohol noticeable in this at all. My only knock against it Iíd that perhaps itís just a tad thin on the palate.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A deep dark imperial stout with a thin dark brown head. In aroma, loads of coffee attack the nose with caramel, treacle, and floral hops, very nice and pleasant. In mouth, intense bitter chocolate with good coffee grind, musty character, chalky notes, light alcohol warmth, very classic and pleasing. On tap at brewery.
