6ish pour at Revolution Brewery grand opening. Black with a tan foamy head, quickly fading to leave some lace on the plastic cup. Smells of sweet chocolate, roasted characters and espresso. Medium bodied with a residual sweetness and a noble hop bitterness. Smells better than it tastes.

A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, a smooth bitter chocolate, with beany, light boiled veggies. In mouth, a sweet chocolate, silky smooth, coffee beans, very nice. On tap at Fountainhead, May 21 2011.

Nice espresso head with great lacing on top of a dark murky pour. Aroma of nutty chocolate. Creamy mouth. Taste is full of nut and chocolate. Slight bitter finish mellows the sweetness. Nicely balanced.

Enjoyed on tap at Goose Island Stout Fest 2012 in Chicago, IL. This was one of the more enjoyable stouts that I had throughout the day. App is pitch black, moderate to thick consistency, rich tan head. Aroma of chocolate, bit of lactose, cocoa, decent amount going on with the sweetness but it didn’t smell too much like a candy bar. Taste is very good, bit of peanuts, like Nutella, rich like a peanut butter consistency, very good stuff.

UPDATED: MAR 24, 2012 At Half acre. Somewhat bitter chocolate flavor and some bitter hop flavor but not much hop aroma. The hops didn’t quite work for me but not bad. Serving: Tap

poured from growler into a half acre tulip. Pours a nice dark chocolate color with a nice roasty head
very well balanced and aromatic with notes of dark chocolate, cacao nibs, roasted coffee beans and malts.
Full bodied with a real nice and smooth feel. Very drinkable with flavors of coffee beans, roasted malts and dark chocolate
Though it slightly lacks in the middle, this is a great stout at 5%. Brings real good depth and flavor while being at a lower abv.

UPDATED: MAR 26, 2012 3/26/12-re-rate from Stout Fest. Had to try this one again and see what the deal was. Second time around, much improved. Much more malt driven with drying roast and less cloying milk sugar. The chocolate is a bit more subdued and less sweet overall. Much, much better this time around. 3.7.
5/26/11 -Draft at Fountainhead. Pours black with a tan head, pretty good looking beer. Nose expresses chocolate, hershey’s syrup. This is going to be sweet. No hop aromatics. Some light roast notes are present. On taste, sweet. Cloyingly so. The lactose overtakes the cocoa notes. It rides the tongue and wraps it up. I can’t get past the sweetness. Reminds me of Dark Horizon 3. Not my bag at all...2.4

Homer Half Acre love on this one...Thanks to Chris for coming over early Saturday. Drank from a Matilda tulip...Pours black with medium to dark brown on the fringes. Really good carbonation especially from an already opened growler, retention and lacing are really nice...The aroma is really sweet chocolate syrup, roast, some great creaminess. Some bitter coffee. Too sweet, but otherwise easy to smell, ok...The taste is not doing it for me. Sweet bitter cream, over burnt malt, off balanced lactose sugar that just seems added in. The burnt/roast makes for a harsh finish and feel...Despite not loving this still pretty easy to drink.
About an average milk stout. Can’t recommend this.
