3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Growler from the brewery courtesy of dwm1034. Thanks! Pours a jet black with a thin tan head. Aroma is nothing but chocolate. Medium to heavy on the palate with medium carbonation. Flavor is bitter chocolate and roasted malt. One of the better sweet stouts Iíve had. I hope they bottle this and make it a regular.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JAN 22, 2011 growler card #2 punch #3. aroma is black cherry, raspberry and luscious fudge brownies. appearance is 99% opaque with filthy brown tinged head in large amounts but moderate to low carb. flavor echoes aroma with further pressure from the fruity notes, raspberry espically. those esters lighten the chocolate and keep it tempered and interesting, checking pure sweetness.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice espresso head with great lacing on top of a dark murky pour. Aroma of nutty chocolate. Creamy mouth. Taste is full of nut and chocolate. Slight bitter finish mellows the sweetness. Nicely balanced.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber pours an opaque black with medium tan head that never completely disappears, but which leaves faint lacing. Aroma is full of chocolate, coffee, cream, and bready malts. Body is medium to full, befitting a stout, with minimal carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. Taste is sweet, but not as sweet as I had feared it might be, with a touch of hoppy bitterness in the middle. Thereís nothing over the top here, just a very good chocolate stout and another reason Iíll check out what Half Acre might come up with next.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
5 ounce sampler at the Half Acre tap room. Aroma was coffee and cola, appearance was dark brown and thinly foamed on top, taste was more predominantly coffee than chocolate, palate was fairly light and fizzy. The chocolate flavors are a dark, semisweet variety. Overall, itís A-ok, drinkable, accessible for the masses. I had expected a heavier body, thicker, creamier, more chocolate.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber from the brewery. Pours a dark and opaque stouty brown-black, thin espresso colored head that dissipated quickly. Nose is chocolate, caramel, hint of butterscotchy diacetyl, and dark roast. Mouth is smooth, but a bit watery -- particularly for a stout. Surprisingly dry (whereís that lactose theyíre advertising) and most of the chocolate flavor s overwhelmed by the roasty notes. More like a Chocolate Economy Car. Not bad, but not mnd-blowing.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Growler thanks to msante79. Iíve been extremely impressed with everything Iíve had from Half Acre so far so Iím excited to try this one. Pour is dark brown with a medium sized tan head. Milk chocolate, coffee, vanilla in the aroma. Sweet taste with milk chocolate, coffee, nuttiness, and some cream. Not overly sweet at all. Slightly bitter in finish. Fairly light mouthfeel.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Hot Chocolate in Wicker Park: poured blackish brown with a pleasant ring of light brown head. Nose is milk chocolate, espresso, milk thistle, roasted malts. On the palate, light to medium bodied, subtle chocolate, more roasted malt profile than hops. Dry with more going on in the nose than once on the tongue. Solid session beer.
