Tap sample. Poured a dark brown color with an average frothy light brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted malt, spice and chocolate aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted chocolate sweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid complex brew.

On tap at the taproom. Really nice..caramel, chocolate, roasty with a nice creamy mouthfeel. Seems like itíd be a bigger beer but nice (moderately) low ABV. Very nice.

Tap @ Half Acre: Black center with deep brown edges; rich beige foam & film up top leaves some nice lacing as it makes its way down. Aroma of silky smooth chocolate notes, light cream, a faint hint of roasted coffee beans, & a touch of some lightly scorched brown sugar in the background. More semisweet cocoa on the palate with that integral hint of milkiness. Slight background of roasted malts with a dash of coffee & some darker hints of woodsy char near the finish, although ultimately it ends on a moderately sweet chocolate malty note. Overall, nice porter from Half Acre.

On tap: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate, light roasted nuts, a light coffee. Itís a dark brown with some faint orange highlights and a small beige h ad that fades to a thin minimal film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate and lighter caramel. The finish has moderate roasted nuts, light coffee, and a touch of burnt grains. Itís medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation.

Bottle: Brown hue with a fading head and not much lace. Nice roast, bread, walnut, cinnamon, and black tea notes along with a dash of fruit. Different and enjoyable.

Tap at Half Acre. This is pretty darn good. Deep, dark brown pour. Looks dense. Beige soapy head. Nice sweet chocolate with maybe a hint of lactose, but maybe itís just general sweetness. Nice full palate but not super heavy. Bit of licorice, but mild. Overall this has a lot of character and bold flavor, but it isnít extreme along any one flavor element. Which is cool.

tmoreau (2932) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - OCT 31, 2014
Shared bomber poured to snifters, displaying a black/brown hue, with a brownish tan layer of head foam that quickly diminished to a thin ring, and bubbly film, leaving spots of lacing on the glass. The nose was roasted, toffee sweet, with bakerís chocolate, and some black licorice scent. Medium bodied, with low carbonation, the taste was somewhat similar notes as the aromaís, and dry astringency that lingered into the finish. Tasty & fairly robust.

Draught at the brewery. Pours black with small tan head. Nose shows roasted malts, chocolate and light coffee. Taste follows the same vein. Approachable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
