COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double Daisy Cutter is a monster version of the original Daisy Cutter Pale Ale. A heftier grain bill amps up the weight and double dry hopping insures there’s enough hops to recede your gums.

A specialty brew. Grab it when you see it. 8% ABV

22oz bottle split. Consumed 1-27-13 and reviewed from notes. Bottle is courtesy of exitmusic00. Thanks! A: Copper with bottom feeding bubbles. Thin, nearly pure white head. N: Firm scents of citrus. Pineapple, mango, passionfruit. Hints of spruce and earth. Nothing crazy, just all around delicious smelling. T: Pine and earthy hops are the forefront and they are quite strong. Pineapple and clementine oranges are distanst. Dry biscuit base lacking in malty sweetness. Straw bundles and floral arrangements. M: Palate scraping, medium-heavy body. Alcohol is well hidden. Excellent representation of the style. O: Straight up winner. More dry hopping and some citrus flavors blended into the body and this would be near perfect for my palate. As it is, it’s one of the most complete examples of the style I have had and one I will heartily recommend.

Huge hop aroma, much more bitterness and hoppiness than the original, nice dryness, awesome.

Bomber from Binny’s Des Plaines. Pours lightly hazed golden burnt orange with white head that leaves nice lacing. Aromas of peaches, tropical fruit, little bit of sweet malt, and some orange as well. Flavors of bitter hops, sweet malts, tropical fruits, bit of peach, and touch of caramel. Feel that it should taste fresher than it does, but is just a bigger version of regular DC. . Could use some more bitterness to balance out the malt bill. Very solid.

Bomber. January 2013 release. Almost a carbon copy of its little brother, Daisy Cutter, but with more kick. Medium head with great lacing. Nose is resinous pine, guava and geranium-esque (and just an FYI: I don’t know if you’ve ever smelled a daisy, but they smell like shit). Mouth is relatively dry (drank this after a Hopslam), lots of tropical fruit (guava, pineapple and some citrus) and a short finish.... and while I prefer the ’Galactic’ version of this from 2011, I still wish this was available year round. Thanks HABC! Bauk, bauk!

Pour out of 16 oz can, thanks a ton Matt! Nice hazy orange pour with glistening slightly off white, pillowy head, laces well. Aroma is very nice, some big juicy grapefruit, orange, pine and grass in there, nice pineapple and mango notes, hints of a nice refreshing lemon peel as well, some slight caramel in the background. Taste is a nice smooth mix of pineapple, grapefruit, orange, and lemon, a bit sweeter than it lets on in the aroma, but a nice sweet fruity start leads to some caramel, finishing wish some nice bitter lemon, but does not overwhelm the palate. Very well done.

16oz can. Hazy amber with a thick, dense off white head. Aroma of tropical fruit, pine, citrus and light caramel. Flavor is strong bitter hops with some light malt for balance and well hidden alcohol. Medium body with average carbonation and a dry mouth feel. Really great beer, lots of fresh tropical fruit aroma with a strong bitterness, goes down really easy.

Pours a hazy golden amber with a small disappearing white head. The aroma has citrus and tropical fruit hops, light resiny notes and cat pee. The flavor has more tropical fruit and citrus with plenty of fresh hops, toasted bready malts and a moderate bitterness to the finish. Decent amount of drinkability for what it is.

22 oz bottle served in Stone imperial pint glass. From the recent February 2012 bottling, big thanks to BA danielnovak3 for picking up a bottle for me. A: Pours a hazy solid amber with golden edges. A one finger pure white head forms on the pour and subsides to a thin cap and thick collar. Sheets of sticky lace are left down the glass. S: This is Daisy Cutter on steroids. Solid grassy and floral hops mix beautifully with a nice bready and caramel backbone. T: Dry biscuit malts come at you up front and it segues nicely into grassy and hay like hop presence. There is minimal floral hop notes as well. There is a residual sweetness that pops up mid palate and the finish is slightly bitter and clean. M: Medium bodied, spot on carbonation and the finish is clean with a slight twinge of hoppy bitterness. Very nice and easily drinkable. O: Well this tastes a hell of a lot like Daisy Cutter, but amplified, so it really fits the bill nicely of what I was expecting. Easily drinkable with nice grassy and floral notes, I could drink this all day. I wish they released on a more regular basis. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 03-01-2012
