Heyoka is a western charged firecracker. We conjured the classics in Chinook and Amarillo then laid them on a bed of pale malt. This India Pale Ale shoots straight to the bitter edge before falling into a mellow haze. Deep gold, 7% ABV and ready to travel into the distance. The Heyoka resides in the opposite and is said to use the wind as sticks to beat the drum of thunder.

On tap @ kumas. Nice orange amber color with large off white head. Nice lacing all the way down the lass. Fruity mango tropical aroma and flavor would like a bit more hop flavor. Good take on an ipa different for sure. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @ Haymarket. Hazy copper with a large off-white head. Aroma of pineapple, grapefruit, mango, pine resin, and orange peel. Flavor has similar tropical fruit in the body, and finishes with some light bitterness and grain.

Darker coppery colour. Hops, en masse, with a real pungent note and some pinecones. Very nice. Good length and well constructed brew. Has some hops and bittterness with a little malty backbone. Good stuff.

Pours a hazy light golden with a good white head and good lacing. Aroma is dank with some candied citrus and tropical fruit and a grassy character. Taste has a pretty big grapefruit pith bitterness with some juicy citrus flavor. Some biscuity malt manages to creep in, along with some grass and pine, making it drier than the aroma would suggest. Finishes dry with a growing bitterness. Crisp mouthfeel with a light/medium body and high carbonation. Very drinkable with a big but fairly smooth bitterness. Lots of hop flavor but still enough malt to balance it out. Would drink again.

2014 can to a tulip glass. Pours a clear golden yellow with a white fluffy head. Aroma is dank with cat pee, pine, grass and biscuit. Taste is light biscuit at the start and then big hops thereafter. Pine, grass, resinous with some sweet malt and pineapple mixed in. Big,building bitterness. Light mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Holy all things hops. I like it alot. Daisy cutter is super good. This is daisy like on some ways but way more balanced. It weird to say that an ipa is more balanced than a pale but I think overall more people would find heyoka to be a more enjoyable drink. Great half acre hop aroma. Sounds silly but it's tropical off the bat with pine and citrus in the taste . Quite good I'm glad I got a couple 4 packs. What a lineup! Daisy cutter. Akari shogun and heyoka! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tasted on tap at Whole Foods in Chicago. It poured a hazy golden hue with a frothy white head. Bright citrus hop aroma with a powerful hop taste and a pleasantly bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

16 oz can. Excellent. Pours hazy golden with a nice white head that sticks to the glass. Citrus and floral-forward on the nose. Flavor is very nice. Very citrusy, little dank weed, little grassy. Feel like I could session this, but that might turn out bad.

Draft special of the day at the Map Room, and dispensed to a shaker with a slightly hazed, golden color, a frothy & persistent head of white foam, and ribbony cling to the lacing. The nose was expressive & perfumey, with notes of grapefruit, peach, maybe a little tropical scent, light resin, and a touch of sweetness. Medium bodied, with appropriate carbonation, the taste offered smooth crustiness to the malt, and earthy, rindy hop bitterness that incorporated a lingering astringency, added to some decent dryness at the finale. Stronger and dryer than the Daisy, but I liked it just as well.
