This is the first time we’ve brought this out of its scabbard. We’ve never released a Double IPA - and this will make its debut at our 5th Anniversary Party on 5/17. Attacking your ability to make good choices, this bully quickly becomes your best friend.

Navaja is a Double IPA that changes each time we brew it, unless we don’t change it. This go-round is a little more aggressive. Heavy on Citra, Mosaic, and Columbus hops and Golden Promise malt; Navaja is a shredder rotating on all cylinders.

Bottle shared at Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours cloudy blonde with a nice off-white head and a strange fruity aroma. There is a full-bodied caramel malt flavor with a pretty bitter finish.

From the brewery. Orange color decent body, grassy, pine, herbal hopes. Bit beer. Something about the hops was too sharp, not a hop mix that appealed greatly too me. Serving: Bottle

13oz tap at Half Acre. Unfiltered orange-tan body. Frothy, soapy off-white head. Great citrus, tropical aroma. Massive, awesome IIPA for 2013. Big tropical tones, mango, island fruit, citrus. Quite excellent, cooling and refreshing. Some piny bite after awhile, the 10% ABV begins to show. Absolute monstrous hop tones on top of a big golden malt backbone. A beast of a beer, very reminiscent of big FFF IIPAs.

Draft at Jerry’s. Orange-gold with modest, creamy, white head, light lacing / Light, acidic nose of weed, citrus, straw / Medium body, biting, some sweetness and lightly cloying, but oerall decent balance and lots of bitterness on finish / Flavors of lightly cooked orange rind, honey, pine, resin / A solid, if somewhat standard, 2ipa.

Bomber. Pours a a golden orange, medium white head, decent retention, good lacing. Nose is Tropical fruit (pineapple mainly) and floral-ness, some malt hinted at in there as well. Mouth is surprisingly dry, lotsa floral notes, some tropical fruit (guava mainly). Malt is present in the background but this one is dominated by the hops (not necessarily a bad thing tough). A little astringent towards the middle, and kinda soapy on the backend. I haven’t read all the reviews so I don’t know if anyone else already mentioned it but this reminds me a whole lot of the an imperial version of Daisy Cutter (like they cut-pasted the recipe for DDC and just released it later.. if only I had a side by side fresh version of each)... and the new bottle art (skeleton-Danzig-demon-multi-armed-knife wielding-thing) looks like it was taken directly from the Three Floyd’s archives. Whatever it actually is, while it’s not really that original of an idea from HABC, it still tastes mighty nice, so I’ll give it points for that.

22 oz. bottle. Hazed orangish amber pour with a small white head. Aroma of pine, citrus, and resin, some floral and grass notes. Some melon notes as well. Flavor is quite bitter, but balanced somewhat with some mild golden malt sweetness. Medium bodied, above average carbonation, finishes nice and bitter. This very nice.

On tap at Mash Tun Festival 2013. Pour is clear gold with a white head that disappears quickly. Aroma/Flavor are both of fruity hops, melon, resin, and alcohol. Strong boozy finish.

This one is not for the faint of heart. Really hoppy and a strong alcohol taste. Finishes bitter and tastes slightly like running alcohol. Pours a light yellow orange in color. Had at half acre tap room ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
