This is the first time we’ve brought this out of its scabbard. We’ve never released a Double IPA - and this will make its debut at our 5th Anniversary Party on 5/17. Attacking your ability to make good choices, this bully quickly becomes your best friend.

Navaja is a Double IPA that changes each time we brew it, unless we don’t change it. This go-round is a little more aggressive. Heavy on Citra, Mosaic, and Columbus hops and Golden Promise malt; Navaja is a shredder rotating on all cylinders.

Tap @ Half Acre: Super cloudy amber & dusty orange in color with an eggshell shaded, off-white creamy foam that leaves decent, sheety lacing along the glass. Explosive aroma of juicy ass hoppage; passion fruit, tangerine, floral perfume, spicy grapefruit rind, resinous hop leaves, a bit of freshly cut grass... Very nice & in-your-face, yet inviting all at once. Perfume, florals, & a mild botanical notes strike the palate first with a little herbal, grassy sting. It’s not long before the more fruity essence of the hops start to shine. Sweet mango & passion fruit, very much tropical, yet there’s still a mild citrus quality underneath that has a more bitter, rind-like & peel-y taste in the latter half of each sip. Notable sugar cookie-esque, crystal malt sweetness adds a nice juiciness to the hops with a toasty finish of perfume, citrus rind, & hop water. Lightly dank aftertaste, slightly sweet & lingering full of hops. This is another absolutely delicious hoppy brew from Half Acre.

Draft at Tap Room, Half Acre in Chicago. Pours a clear bright golden color with minimal head that fades to spotty lacing. Aroma is intense hop bitterness with tropical fruit and booze. Flavor is big and bitter - hop bitterness, fruity sweetness, caramel malts, and bold booze throughout. More sweet fruit than bitterness overall. Medium bodied, solid, probably best in small quantities.

Fantastic. I've had this at their tap room before. Just had latest release from draft at sheffields and LOvE it. Cloudy thick orange pour. Tons of white fluffy and sticky head. Massive ripe peach aroma. Can taste the booze a little but well hidden for the ABV. Tropical fruits, citrus, grapefruit, hoppy. Basically everything I love in a beer

A bit too sweet for me, though the hop presence is nice. Has some nice citrus and pine flavors.

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2014 Pours somewhat translucent golden with an orange hue and nice lacey white head. Aroma brings nice pungent citrus and skunky hops as it warms up, delicious! Flavor brings more dry than sweet piney hops that settle nice on the tongue.

Bottle shared at Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours cloudy blonde with a nice off-white head and a strange fruity aroma. There is a full-bodied caramel malt flavor with a pretty bitter finish.

Pours a pale yellow with a white lacing. Tge aroma consists of earth, leaves a dirt followed by citrus with a touch of tropical citra notes

From the brewery. Orange color decent body, grassy, pine, herbal hopes. Bit beer. Something about the hops was too sharp, not a hop mix that appealed greatly too me. Serving: Bottle

13oz tap at Half Acre. Unfiltered orange-tan body. Frothy, soapy off-white head. Great citrus, tropical aroma. Massive, awesome IIPA for 2013. Big tropical tones, mango, island fruit, citrus. Quite excellent, cooling and refreshing. Some piny bite after awhile, the 10% ABV begins to show. Absolute monstrous hop tones on top of a big golden malt backbone. A beast of a beer, very reminiscent of big FFF IIPAs.
