This one was on tap at Harry Carayís Tavern on Navy Pier in Chicago. It poured brown as expected with a good long lasting beige head. It definitely started out with a rich caramel malt with some nuts and chocolate notes. The hops were of a medium herbal nature and balanced nicely. I could drink a lot of these in a session.

Pounder can from Caponeís. Pours turbid mahogany with 2-finger khaki head. Nose is earthy vienna malt, not much else. Tastes of vienna/munich brown malt, earthy notes, nuts, mild hops. Fair complexity for a brown ale. A good example of a somewhat boring style.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Medium, pale brown with a small creamy tan head. Aroma is hoppy, pine, light malt, a bit of sweetness. Medium thin body. Flavor is more hop than malt. Pine, citrus, and a bit of caramel malt with light chocolate. Solid brown but a little too hoppy for my tastes.
