22 oz. bottle consumed in August 2011. Pours a dark burgundy color with a large fizzy beige head. the aroma is tart berries and cherry, caramel, acidic with some yeasty notes. The flavor is more of the same; tart cherry and berries, caramel, acidic, yeast; spritzy carbonation with a dry finish. I like the label +.1.

Bonus points for the imaginative and creative artwork on the label. The beer is hazy and chestnut brown in color with a ginormous tan head that leaves ample lacing on the glass. A bit over-carbonated. Sweet fruit dominates the aroma. Currants followed by berries. The flavor is lightly tannic, offering some oak character and a healthy serving of currants. Definitely more sweet than tart / sour. Alcohol presence is mild. A few ounces is plenty. This was fun to try, but not a big hit among the guys in the tasting group. 22 ounce bottle, poured a dark reddish brown color, aromas of cherries, currants, light chocolate, some light wet wood, and light yeast. Flavors follow suit, a nice tart cherry followed by some currants. I was afraid I might have sat on this one too long, after reading some of the reviews, however this was a pretty good beer overall.

Bottle, 09/07/2012. Maroon pour, ruby highlights with massive rocky head, taking up more than half the glass. Fades in a few minutes, leaving large bubbled lacing. Nose of brown sugar, cola, light chocolate, berry fruitiness, musty yeast, little funky cardboard. Taste is light sour, fruity, nutty chocolate, some spices. Highly carbonated. Well, it’s ok, but not my favorite effort from these breweries by far.

pour is murky dark brown with tan head. Nose is overly sweet with a messy malt. Plums, cherries, tobacco, peppery spice, lightly smoky meat. Taste is less smoky, more sweet sugar, with a strange twang in the finish. Plums, cherries, faint leather, faint peppery spice, fairly dry finish, moderate carbonation and oily palate.
