3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Really good barleywine that I agree with some others seems more like a strong ale.
Great balance though. . . a bit of barky sourness, but also a ton of rich malty goodness.
Perfect balance of substantial mouth feel and adequate carbonation and levity.
Strong, but worth savoring.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. bottle pours aclear copper with a scant beige head and little lacing. Aroma is full of pine and grapefruit at first, but with lots of caramel and toffee malts underneath with some basement dankness. Taste is sweet before the long bitter finish. Body is medium to full with only slight carbonation. Mouthfeel is creamy, and alcohol is well hidden, making this deceptively easy to drink. Doesnít it sound like Iím describing a well-hopped IIPA? Whatever the style, this is a well-crafted big beer worth trying.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. bottle served in a Half Acre tulip.
A: Pours a dark ruby color with a yellowish head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thick ring that leaves some splotchy lace down the glass.
S: Piney and grapefruity on the nose at first whiff. There is a sweet underlying malt body that really gives it a nice transition from the hops. A little caramel. Some earthiness as well. Perhaps a touch of onion.
T: More malty than the nose suggest. Slight roasted notes, but mainly some sweet caramel and a little burnt sugar bitterness. Some grassy hops, pine and some mild grapefruit as well. A little boozy sweetness on the finish.
M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation. Even though itís a little boozy on the finish it doesnít detract from the overall drinkability of this beer. Drinks very well for a 10% barleywine - esque beer.
O: I think this isnít quite an American Barleywine, more of a malt DIPA a la Devil Dancer. This however drinks much better than Devil Dancer and has much more nuanced flavors. The hops compliment the sweet malts well and Iíd like to see what some age would do to this beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap @ PP Strong Ale. Clear reddish pour with a slick of white foam. Aroma is sharp, resinous pine with bitter hops and some heavier raisin and sweet malt from the barley wine. Taste is dominated by pine and bitter hops with a fairly clean, sweet and lightly toasted malt profile. Drinks more like a heavily hopped strong ale than a barley wine. Nice.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
In short: A toasted and well hopped amber American Strong Ale. Easy to drink, almost refreshing, lovely beer.
How: Bottle 22oz, shared by buddy Dave at Camping Brewdown 2012.
The look: Cloudy dark amber body topped by a very small beige head.
In long: Nose has toasted malts, fruity notes and a surprising strong fresh leafy hop character, an inviting aroma. Taste has nice biscuity malts that do not feel so sweet, a pleasant toastiness, sweet citrus fruits on the attack, a good amount of fruity and juicy leafy hops to balance the beer. Iím surprised at the unenthusiastic ratings on this beer, I guess people prefer heavier barley wines, this is actually a highly drinkable well balanced American Strong Ale. Dangerously easy to drink for a 10% beer. Got myself a few samples of this one, my favorite new beer of the party and people didnít seem to want any of it. Looks like Iím rating this one much higher than the friends I drank this with, but I do appreciate their devotion, it takes a lot of dedication to pretend for so long I donít have better beer taste than all of you guys.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber, 2012. Pours a nice copper color with almost no head or lacing. Nose is a bit malt, resin and a hint of basement-y dankness. Mouth is Full and creamy, with a tang up front, some oranges and stone fruits, then some breadiness on the back end that fades into an orangey thing with a fair amount of bitterness. This was in my car for a few days (itís in the 30s here in Chicago) so I might re-rate this after itís warmed up a bit, but right now Iíd give it a solid B.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Taster at the brewery. The part I liked most was Quakerbridgeís creaminess and smoothness. The high abv is unnoticeable and the taste is lightly sweet, low amounts of toffee and moderately hopped. I liked that it had a satisfying mouthfeel and sturdy, relaxed flavor without getting overwhelming or hop-blasted. Rusty orange appearance with a heavy dose of foam on top. This is a solid choice for Thanksgiving and if it werenít a bit pricey ($10.99 bomber) I would buy multiples for the holiday weekend.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle via trade shared at Campground Brewdown. Poured a jazy orange/amber with not much head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, molasses and lsight honey. Medium to fuller mouthfeel that is slightly syrupy and slightly hot with average carbonation. Dry flavor of caramel, molasses, toffee, dry toast, honey and some very dried out citrus rind. Very good.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2012-08-17. Dark amber body is near headless, suggesting the bottle may have been open for a while. Malty aroma with hoppy overtones, lightly resiny, muted citrus. 7+ Flavour is similar, modest caramel malt with pleasant resiny hop character. 7+ Average plus bodied palate. 3+ Decent, bit simple.
