Lubiere (12765) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 21, 2013
A dark reddish copper Barley Wine with a thin lacing mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with treacle, grassy floral hops, light chalky notes, nice. In mouth, a nice sweet caramel malt with mineral harshness, scotch wood character, floral catty hops, loads of warming alcohol, nice. On tap at brewery

Poured a clear dark amber brown color with aromas of toffee, caramel, and some sweetness. Flavors are the same, nice barley wine overall, great flavor, a nice sipper to relax outside with.

Clear copper color with fleeting ivory head. Big floral, dank spicy hop aromas. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Very nice floral, ganja bud, spicy hop flavors with a solid pale malt base-----great barleywine.

Marty Stouffer’s Wild America. 22 oz bomber into a Founders 15th glass. Cool label and idea! Pours a clear burnt red color with a fingers worth of stubborn white foam. Really sticks around and clings to the glass. Excellent retention. Smells like a faded hoppy American barleywine. Resinous pine and some light citrus, toffee and caramel, a touch of booze and some brown sugar sweetness. Taste is similar to the nose with plenty of toffee, brown sugar, and piney hops. Bitterness is low and the alcohol is noticeable but pleasant. This is tasting really damn good right now, but I can only imagine age hurting this beer. Mouth feel is full and creamy. Overall this is a really solid beer. Really hits on everything that I would want out of the style with a bit of age on it.

ICEatALAMO (1300) - Troy, Michigan, USA - APR 16, 2013
Draft at brewery. The pour is a hazy red. The aroma is mostly hops. The taste has a decent amount of hops and tastes more like a iipa than a barelywine if you ask me. Not much sweetness. Note that they told me it was even more hoppier when it first came out. Good, but different than what I expected. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle with Vin and Bill. Pours a murky brown with some beige head. Notes of caramel, toffee, dark fruit, piney hops. Pretty boozy with some decent hop bitterness. Not bad.

Bottle shared with some brahs, pours murky red brown, notes of barley, booze, toffee, wood, plums, sugar, and other dark fruits. Very sticky palate. Warming in the body.

So as a fresh bwine I liked it alot cause it had the nice half acre hop forward punch! It was like a nice not overly sweet double ipa...so actually drinkable and enjoyable...good hop aroma off the bat followed up with nice hop taste thru out.. That would mellow out with age but ad is ( a 3-6 month old b wine) it was really enjoyable! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
