Bomber. Poured clear, bright golden with a sticky white head. The aroma picked up juicy pineapple and pears, with accents of dry, white vinous notes, blended, redder fruits, and cloves.. interesting stuff. The flavor found tangy citrus and fragrant floral notes on the tip of the tongue, with bready malts behind.. pears, pineapple, and white spices really came through on the back-end.. long, dry, tasty finish. Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation on the palate.. very dry.. not the best flow, but it was very good overall.

Of the two beers this one is better. Maybe the larger format keeps it fresher or something about the conditions it faced were more optimal. I donít know. What I do know is that this is a fun saison with a great fruity kick. Normally I donít like the Sorachi Ace influenced beers but here it works.

Aroma / Appearance - The golden carbonated body and stark white head resemble the other one. This shouldnít be too shocking. What is surprising is how much different and crisp the nose is. Pears, peaches, almonds, and white pepper smell like blended jolly ranchers tossed in a fermentation tank.

Flavor / Palate - Peppery spicy pears raise the ante on a distinct profile. Taking it to the next level, they manage to carry the hay texture into a dry sweet finish. Half Acre is a great brewery and this is just one more reason why I think they will be around a very long time.

Bottle, courtesy Brigadier, thanks! Gold pour, big white head, excellent retention/lace. Aroma of melon, pear, fruity ester. Taste is quite bitter, sweaty hops, pear, fruity ester, pepper, a bit sweeter as it warms. Palate is dry, high carbonation, bitter finish.

Poured from a bomber into my Founders snifter. Thanks to danielnovak3 for picking this guy up for me a the release. A: Pours a semi-hazy orange with dark yellowed hues woven around the glass. A 1 finger white head shows itself on the pour but recedes quickly leaving a film over the top. S: Smells of nice sweet fruits. Big on the pear with a slight tart apple in there as well. I canít find any yeast which should go with a saison. I def. agree with Chadquest, this screams a fruity and slightly hoppy pale ale. T: I get the pear which Iím glad about considering that was the original plan. There is a slight yeasty backbone that makes may to a slight bitter hop ending. A little sweet fruit does push its way back up after the bitterness. M: Medium to light bodied with a nice carbonation. The semi-sweet fruit coats the palate nicely. O: Not as yeasty as I would like a saison, but it was still a good brew none the less. I just wish it was true to style so that definitely knocks it down a few pegs. Bitter and pear are the primary descriptors on this one. Donít quite remember the Shortsí version to distinguish any differences between the two. nice & spicy saison
