Space, an India Pale Ale that we brewed a version of before, but under the name Daly Double. This beer is a tribute to a friend that passed away last year. Space was his nickname as a young man and this beer will be a regular offering at our brewery only; our way of keeping him a regular.

Its with great honor and sadness that we announce an upcoming special release beer. Were brewing The Daly Double, an India Pale Ale brewed in memoriam of a friend of Half Acre Beer Co.Terry Daly passed away suddenly after spending a lot of time at our brewery over the last few years. Terry was a fan of music, geometry, his two Huskies, Moon & Luna, and amply hopped craft beer. Were pretty sure that Terry was the foremost consumer of Daisy Cutter Pale Ale. Terry began popping in to buy sixtels of Daisy and before long he stopped by almost everyday just to chew the fat. After a while, he had the authority to walk back into the brewery and go into the cold room to reserve himself kegs and manage his own kegerator inventory for his home Daisy Cutter supply. Being a bright dude, we put him to work wiring things or lending a hand doing whatever needed to be done. Hed turn others on to our beer and took pride in his connection to our brewery. All good breweries acquire people. These people become the larger body that is the meat of your brewing company. Not the tanks or the beers, but the heart of what we do. It has a pulse of its own and its one of the best things about brewing beer for a living. The Daly Double is for Terry and all the other folks that give breweries life . To Terry, Huzzah!

In a howler from the brewery. It is awesome to have this brew and this brewery just a short bike ride away from the house. A great whiff of citrus hops. Pours a orange golden hue with a white fluffy head that slowly disappears. A great balance of late citrus hops with sufficient malt to carry it off. The palate is just right...not too dry or too cloying. Not just a dependable IPA, but one that you look forward to.

On tap at the annual Chicago Beer Society picnic, and self served to a clear, plastic shaker, showing a hazed, amber color, with a decent layer of off white/cream head foam. The aroma was expressive grapefruit, with resin, and some dankness to the nose. Some lingering quality to the moderate hop bitterness, and more available, tempering malt. Medium bodied, and suitably carbonated. A cut above standard faire as IPAs go, with no fault to its tastiness.

Draft at brewery. The pour is a dark orange, almost amber. The aroma is very hoppy. The taste is hoppy, but not overwhelmingly which I like. The hops have a fruit taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sampled during CBC 2013. Amber orange pour with a really nice khaki head and good lacing. Mild hop aroma, some fruitiness, citrus, pine, and a bit of cat pee, plenty of maltiness. Balance in the flavor leans a touch too much towards malty for me, good hop bitterness, some citrus and pine, just not enough fresh hop kick for me. Good mouthfeel and looks good to boot. Not bad.

Howler and served in mt new HA snifter: Coppery hue with a fading but lasting frothy head and left good lace upon the glassware. The aroma has notes of resiny, catty, dank and citrus hops along with some bready and crystal malts, aromatic as well. The taste is moderately high alpha bittering with some grapefruit, melon, and lychee. Solid background of bready malts before finishing with a slight hop spice kick. Lively and a tad metallic. Overall a solid tasty beer, nothing too over the top but enough to keep ya interested.

Tap @ Half Acre with TheAlum. Pours a hazy golden orange appearance with a white head. Floral, fairly citrusy fruity, somewhat caramel flavor. Really nice, quaffable, spicy, orange citrusy, resiny, a bit dank hoppy flavor. Like.

First pour off the keg so murky gold with medium white head, great lacing. Aromas of oranges, lemon, pine, and peach. Maybe some simcoe or cascade in this? Flavor is much of the same with balanced hops and malt with light marshmallow in the finish. Awesome ipa.

On tap at the source. Pours a golden orange with an off-white head with nice retention. Aroma has all citra hops; fresh fruits and citrus. Lovely! Taste is of fresh fruit, grapefruit, pine and a surprisingly solid sweet caramel malt presence. Medium bodied and quite sticky. Finishes to the bitter side of bittersweet, but really well balanced. This is a really good IPA!
