Space, an India Pale Ale that we brewed a version of before, but under the name Daly Double. This beer is a tribute to a friend that passed away last year. Space was his nickname as a young man and this beer will be a regular offering at our brewery only; our way of keeping him a regular.

It’s with great honor and sadness that we announce an upcoming special release beer. We’re brewing The Daly Double, an India Pale Ale brewed in memoriam of a friend of Half Acre Beer Co.Terry Daly passed away suddenly after spending a lot of time at our brewery over the last few years. Terry was a fan of music, geometry, his two Huskies, Moon & Luna, and amply hopped craft beer. We’re pretty sure that Terry was the foremost consumer of Daisy Cutter Pale Ale. Terry began popping in to buy sixtels of Daisy and before long he stopped by almost everyday just to chew the fat. After a while, he had the authority to walk back into the brewery and go into the cold room to reserve himself kegs and manage his own kegerator inventory for his home Daisy Cutter supply. Being a bright dude, we put him to work wiring things or lending a hand doing whatever needed to be done. He’d turn others on to our beer and took pride in his connection to our brewery. All good breweries acquire people. These people become the larger body that is the meat of your brewing company. Not the tanks or the beers, but the heart of what we do. It has a pulse of its own and its one of the best things about brewing beer for a living. The Daly Double is for Terry and all the other folks that give breweries life . To Terry, Huzzah!

On tap at the source. Pours a golden orange with an off-white head with nice retention. Aroma has all citra hops; fresh fruits and citrus. Lovely! Taste is of fresh fruit, grapefruit, pine and a surprisingly solid sweet caramel malt presence. Medium bodied and quite sticky. Finishes to the bitter side of bittersweet, but really well balanced. This is a really good IPA!

On tap at the taproom. Pours hazy burnt orange with an average cream-white head that leaves spotty lace. The nose is super intense floral, tropical fruit, citrus, and resin hops with a nice caramel bread malt backbone. The flavor is intense grapefruit peel, floral and resin hops, with some spicy notes and caramel bread. The body is medium with lively carbonation and a long super hoppy grapefruit peel finish.

Yo, this IPA is from outer space. Yep. That damn good. Crazy beautiful golden brown pour with hues of birch, lemon, etc. Super interesting hop flavors swirl about in your mouth and take you for liftoff. From one of the most consistent and best breweries in the Midwest, I enjoyed this out of a growler. Fresh from the source.

On tap at the taproom. Orange golden with a white thin head. Juicy pine citrus aroma. Fresh juicy pine and citrus flavors. A lasting bitterness lingers. Some earthiness is an under note that muddles the flavors. Still juicy and tasty.

This ranks up there alongside Mr Ouroboros on my top tier from Half Acre. Blushed-yellow appearance with little to no foam and lacing. Aroma is understated hops. The tastes were surprisingly strong, in light of the low levels of aroma. The juicy and potent hop flavors were fresh, abundant, and approachable. Medium bodied and slippery, low-carbonation mouthfeel. Strength-wise, it tastes more in the ballpark of 5.5% abv, so that’s a nice bonus. Overall this was a really tasty beer that I would like to see bottled up and made more widely available in 12 ounce bottles or 16 ounce cans.

Enjoyed on tap at the Half Acre tap room. Served in a bulb tulip. A: Pours a dark amber color with a tooth colored head forming on the pour. It recedes slowly to thin film that leaves stick sheets of lace down the glass. S: Flower and full of citrus up front. As it warms some light caramel malts come out to play providing a nice background sweetness. T: Little grapefruit bitterness with a light caramel malt body. The finish is fruity, citrusy and slightly sweet from the malts. M: Medium to light bodied with a sticky sweet finish. Pretty juicy, but easily drinkable with a medium carbonation level. O: I definitely enjoyed this beer. Nicely balanced and easily drinkable, what more could you ask for? Serving type: on-tap

Growler from the HA brewery; shared with Sherm1016...thanks! Pours a beautiful clear amber with nice white head. Nose is citris / piney hops; very smooth body; hoppy aftertaste. This is a good one; very tasty.
