Interesting beer. IT has more of a traditional hop flavor than wet, plenty of dakr malt character.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle shared by a friend poured a dark brown color with aromas of pine, caramel, light roast and a touch of citrus. Flavors were sour, earthy, and pine. The sourness tasted like it was infected, I might have had a bad bottle after seing the reviews, would be willing to try again.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle courtesy of the redditor MostlyHarm1ess. Pours a thick, black, stout-y colour, with a tan head. Chocolate malts and caramel on the nose, as well as pine hops. Very full bodied beer. The citrusy hops are on the forefront of the taste, with a light and dry malty finish. My first beer from Half Acre, and Iím looking forward to trying more!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. bottle served in a Midnight Sun chub.
A: Pours a solid black color with dark brown edges where the light hits. A one finger height of tan head forms on the pour and recedes to a bubble ring. Sticky splotches of lace are left down the glass.
S: Big hoppy notes are present up front. Citrus flesh and green piney notes are both present. Some of the darker flavors then start to come out. Roasted malts, milk chocolate and some toasted coffee bean. Great combinations of flavors going on.
T: The hops are there in a raw state with some semi bitter pine and just mild citrus, but the roasted malt flavors with the light chocolate take over pretty quickly. The finish is fairly clean like an IPA, save for a touch of dry, roasted malt notes.
M: Medium bodied with a solid, medium carbonation. The finish is slightly dry and clean.
O: This beer really straddled the line between IPA and full on black ale. It had a great hop presence, but it was really kept in line by the solid roasted malt presence. A must try for any "Black IPA" fans.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bomber thanks to Pawola22! Pours a dark brown with a large khaki head. Aroma of resinous floral pine, citrus, orange, chocolate malt shake, and slight roast. Taste is up front fruit sweetness, oranges, followed my an earthy chalky roasted bitterness into a chocolate malt shake with more oranges and pine hops on the finish. Itís like a chocolate malt with orange zest and hops. Complex, tasty, and interesting! Yum!

4 ounce sampler tap at Haymarket in Chicago. Itís black in color with some dark brown foam. The smell is nice and oatmeal-y, and it really resembles a hoppy stout. Iíd order this again any time I find it.
