The Empty Sea, an Orange Chicory Rye Beer. Conceptualized and formulated by Half Acre Troubadour, Michael Carroll, this beer strays from the average. Lively citrus rises from loads of fresh peals, knocking out a seemingly bigger hop edge. The Chicory saves the beer from being one dimensional adding a complex curve ball while the rye nails down a drier finish. A double take beer, for sure.

64oz growler from brewpub. aroma is foremost bready malt followed by a far away note of orange zest that morphs to fresh cut grass, a very clean note. wonderful red pour with fine reducing head. flavor begins with twisting fresh baked bread and sweet vegetative citrus unlike anything perceived from hops before. very soft delicate finish, china shop mouthfeel. despite its complexity no one element really leaps out beyond a subtle level. very interesting beer.
