Pours a clear orange with light foam. Aroma is a sort of smoky spice. Reminds me of aftershave. Not appealing. I find the taste somewhat medicinal. Cinnamon, nutmeg and maybe allspice & smoke. Medium palate. Overall I didn’t enjoy this at all. I am a big Half Acre fan but I can’t drink this.

Bomber split four ways. Light copper with an off white head. Smells like straight allspice and cinnamon. Tastes like potpourri, old smoke and band aids.

22 oz. bottle shared by jmborggren. Pours a clear amber color with a small white head. The aroma has caramel malt, light smoke, a mix of spices and a touch of peat. The flavor, again has peat , spices, caramel malts, mild smoke, a mild mint from the caraway seeds and rosemary. A strange combination.

Bottle. Poured clear dark copper color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate complex spice, floral and ginger aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy spice ginger sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.

A very strange beer indeed. I grabbed this based on the Half Acre reputation and name. It did not disappoint although I’m not sure I would buy another. It certainly brings something new to the Chicago beer scene.

Aroma / Appearance - The bronze carbonated base bubbles under an ivory head. Full of warmth the glowing body attracts the eye. Nutmeg, cinnamon, and throat lozenges are a mixture of appealing and odd. The nose is bright and tough to pigeonhole.

Flavor / Palate - The peppery malts have a strong medicinal aspect that is at first distracting. Somehow though it began to grow on me. Cinnamon aspects bring to mind a Great Lakes Christmas Ale clone. I’ve had better but this would be world class with the cough syrup hints.

Bomber to snifter (thanks jmborggren). Looks solid; a fairly transparent dark orange with thin off-white lacing. Smells and tastes of caramel and smoke with some Rosemary too. Average on the palate. Not bad.

Bottle from Neal - thanks! Pours a light amber color with a spotty slick of white bubbles. I can smell a light mix of spices I cannot really identify with a toasted character and a small amout of smoke. I get more smoke in the taste and it combines with some hop bitterness toward the finish. I can taste rosemary in there as well. Light but clean mouthfeel. Pretty low key beer but I think it’s a nice mix of spices with a clean presentation and do like the addition of the smoke.

Bottle. Pours with a clear golden hued body with a small white head that fades. Aromas are of spices and smoke. Cinnamon, rosemary and rye bread with tannins from the spice. Leather, somewhat savory. Flavors are spicy, caraway, cardamom, lightly tangy notes, really woody and earthy, rosemary. Medium smoke. All over the places.

Bottle, shared with Parksy and my wife. Light copper amber colour, averag white head. Aroma is pleasantly smokey and sweetly spicy. There is just the right amount of meaty Bamburg smoke on the palate such that the interesting spice profile is still decipherable. Sweet caramel malts support this unusual canvas of flavours. Some florals become evident as the palate adjusts. We collectively really enjoyed this for its gentle smoke and unique character.
