COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We recently invited Phil Wymore, former Half Acre brewer and current mastermind behind Perennial Artisan Ales out of St. Louis, to the brewery for a collaborative brew sesh. The outcome is Two Tugs, a brawny 8% brown ale that unites two corners of Illinois. The aroma presents elements of molasses, toffee, and dark cherry, adds elements of licorice, hazelnut and chocolate to the taste, and finishes strong and warm with stone fruit on top of more sweet chocolate. Related to Thunder & Son in style and spirit, but more of a smaller cousin than a twin brother.

On tap at the taproom. Rating from notes. Pours a rich brown color with a medium light brown head. Aroma of big brown malts, roast, brown sugar. Some hazenlnut and molasses notes as well, maybe a touch of wooden like bitterness. Flavor is big, malty, sweet. Some roast notes balance things out to where I would describe it as bordering on balanced. Medium bodied, somewhat chalky mouthfeel, average carbonation. Finishes with some tobacco and chocolate. Nice brew.

From tap. Odd, almost champagne like aroma. Looks spot on for a brown ale. Mouthfeel is light and sparkly, which doesn’t mesh with the style. Taste is mediocre at best. The yeast and hops get in the way, with the malt falling back.

Bomber from Fischmans shared with ck1, thanks beermenus! Pours a dark brown with a tannish head leaving some lacing. Aroma has roast and bakers chocolate with faint nuttiness. Taste is of a nice bittersweet chocolate/coffee blend. Quite roasty underneath. Very solid. Imperial brown?
