Growler poured into a 12 oz glass. Very hazy pale orange color with decent head and excellent lacing. Grass and pine on the nose comes though with melon and firm bitterness on the palette. Nice dry finish. This is a great IPA featuring Nelson Sauvin hops.

4 oz. taster at the tap room. Very hazy yellow color with a thin bubbly head. Nice West Coast style IPA here. Lots of bright hops in aroma and flavor. Nose starts me with tropical fruit, citrus and leads to some pine resin. The flavor reminds me of a Simcoe and Centennial hop blend. Pungent grapefruit, wood mustiness, grassy hints with some sweet and bready and crystal malts. The Bitterness was in the medium scale but that was only 4 oz. worth. I wonder what it would be after about 16 oz. of this gem. Really refreshing and tasty.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
5 ounces at the Half Acre tap room. Light orange appearance, moderate amount of foam and bubbles. Huge grapefruit and pine aroma. Nectarines, muskmelon, and grapefruit flavors that play around together nicely, dry throughout and bitter at the end. Medium bodied, mouth coating flavors and aromas. Juicy and pungent. Overall, this is a dark horse in the Half Acre lineup and one of their better ipa’s. Vallejo really carries its weight for a medium abv, regular ipa..

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Really nice mixture of pine, citrus, and tropical notes. Very dry and quite bitter, but still extremely drinkable. Better version of Pliny, IMO. Not quite as excessively bitter with some type of mouthfeel and much more citrus and tropical flavor and aroma.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Half Acre. Pours hazy golden orange with white head. Aromas of juicy orange citrus, tropical fruit, and bursting with fresh hop aroma. Flavor is loaded with tropical fruits, orange and grapefruit citrus, little white great, and firm dose of bitter hops. Body is right on. Absolutely awesome IPA. Best beer I have had from HA and one of the best IPA/DIPA I have ever had.

Cask at Jerry’s. Pale orange-gold with big, foamy, white head / Grassy, slightly sour nose of citrus and pine / Medium body, cask soft body with low carbonation, some sourness, a touch watery, otherwise good balance and lightly bitter finish / Lightly sour flavors of grass, dandelion, and dry pine, with notes of lemon and grapefruit / Probably not ready for prime time, but an interesting, herbaceous brew.

Draft at Jerry’s. Pale orange-gold with big, foamy, white head / Bright, sweet nose of citrus, honey, pine, and soap / Medium body, fat with low carbonation, a hint watery, with otherwise good balance and bitter finish / Flavors of orange peel, grapefruit, soap, fresh cut pine, and candied sugar / Moderate body issues detract from this potentially great beer.
