3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 jstraw (1665) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 13, 2012Cask at Jerry’s. Pale orange-gold with big, foamy, white head / Grassy, slightly sour nose of citrus and pine / Medium body, cask soft body with low carbonation, some sourness, a touch watery, otherwise good balance and lightly bitter finish / Lightly sour flavors of grass, dandelion, and dry pine, with notes of lemon and grapefruit / Probably not ready for prime time, but an interesting, herbaceous brew. Earlier Rating: 11/13/2012 Total Score: 4.1 Draft at Jerry’s. Pale orange-gold with big, foamy, white head / Bright, sweet nose of citrus, honey, pine, and soap / Medium body, fat with low carbonation, a hint watery, with otherwise good balance and bitter finish / Flavors of orange peel, grapefruit, soap, fresh cut pine, and candied sugar / Moderate body issues detract from this potentially great beer.

On tap at Half Acre. Pours hazy golden orange with white head. Aromas of juicy orange citrus, tropical fruit, and bursting with fresh hop aroma. Flavor is loaded with tropical fruits, orange and grapefruit citrus, little white great, and firm dose of bitter hops. Body is right on. Absolutely awesome IPA. Best beer I have had from HA and one of the best IPA/DIPA I have ever had.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 kaser (1007) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 10, 2012
Draft pour in their taproom. Bright orange and cloudy. Sticky head. Aroma is intense - grapefruit I think. Bitter taste, smooth, mild hops, fruity. Delicious IPA. Liked this better than the double daisy cutter and a tie with Space ale

Growler thanks to the fella’s at HA. Pours a bight golden orange with a nice small fluffy white head. Aroma is bursting with the notes of citrus, orange, soft lemon and juicy fruit notes. Flavor is equally as good, lots of that citrus, some of the grapes in the Nelson coming out in the latter mouthfeel, very bright and fresh fruity character, drying out towards a fairly bitter finish. Medium body and a crisp carbonation. Fine offering.

Thanks for the Growler guys! Aroma is killer! Maybe the best or 2nd best nose I’ve had on a HA. Simcoe and Nelson play so nice together! Flavor is bright, mostly piney simcoe, with a touch of grapey nelson, somewhat hollow finish, ultra dry, moderately bitter, crazy good as is, but would be even better at 5% ABV in the summer heat! Excellent work here.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 TheAlum (4289) - Lisle, Illinois, USA - OCT 21, 2012
Growler from the brewery (Chicago, IL). Brought home on a Thursday for the weekend. Pours a firmly hazed golden pour, touches of amber glow. Frothy offwhite head sits atop and laces ok, sticks around as a firm layer. Aromas are a nice firm citrusy and tropical hop presence. A bit resiny, dry florals, oranges and lemons. Grapefruit, oranges, touch of gumball. Grass, florals. Some bready malts, biscuits and dough. Initial is medium bodied, the lighter end overall with firm fruity hop melange up front. Bitterness if firm and growing, florals and weeds, grapefruit, lemons, a touch of pine. Lots of richer flavors give a kiss of gumball, oranges. Some straw, grainy malts. Middle is some touches of garlic at odd times, some bready malts, straw, touch of dough. Richer fruit presence remains, that odd "pizza spice" hop element I got in some of those Three Floyds IPAs from last winter and spring. Good citrus, tropical fruit, grapefruit lingering, a touch of white grape, melon. Solid offering. That spice element always loses a point or two for me. Just odd, that feel. Nice beer though.

Growler picked up at half-acre one week after the release... pours an orangey somewhat peachy orange hue and topped with a froshy white head that quickly dissipates leaving a thin soapy film... aroma is assertively dank with tropical and citrus fruits. juicy and hop forward. Really bright overall and enjoyable... Flavors are more of the same with an equally satisfying hop presence. Clean bright and juicy hop profile with tropical fruit and citrus forwardness. Just shy of medium bodied with quite the right level of carbonation. Quite nice hoppy offering from the ha crew once again.

Growler, pours hazed orange golden with foamy white head. Aroma has citra hops- clementines and tropical fruit, white grape, cat box, great citra and nelson hop profile. Flavors are really crisp, juicy clementines, earthy Nelson character with white grape, cantaloup. Nice bitterness. Finishes sometimes comes off a bit flabby sweet. Really killer citra/Nelson ipa. IMO, every brewery should have hoppy beer along these lines.

Draft at Half Acre. All Citra hops here. Pours a deep gold, hazy with a white head. Nose is a bit catty and passionfruit, lots of tropical stuff with that catty earthy slant. Some faint malt. On tasting, medium-high bitterness. Clean and crisp, lots of hop flavor. That catty note comes through again as well. Really great IPA that keeps you coming back. Awesome stuff.
