3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pint at the tap room. As far as bitters go, this one is excellent. Appearance is golden red, aroma is pungently yeasty, bitter & sweet. It has a persistent, bitter presence that is a real treat to swish around for a while. There’s tartness in there that gives it some chutzpah. It has an assertive taste but it’s not an unconventional flavor package for an English bitter. Light bodied and smooth, low carbonation and minimal lacing and foam. It’s a solid and enjoyable example of the style overall.

This is a decent craft beer but not anything outstanding. Very malty and not something I would get again. Much better beer out there at half acre

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A bit sweet and high in alcohol for a bitter imo but a ncie English amber right here. Toasty grains, pleasant hops, very nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Growler picked up at the brewery. Pours a mostly clear, copper colored body with a finger-width, frothy and creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is toasty caramels with some biscuit and a soft, grassy and floral hop backing. Some hints of citrus and a bit of a melon fruit. Flavor is similar. Medium grassy and floral bitterness throughout with a nice toasty, lightly sweetened biscuity caramel. Finishes dry, clean, and somewhat bitter with just a few resins and a nice malt essence. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a really nice ESB. Fairly bitter, but well balanced with a nice, toasty malt backing. Good one.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
on tap at the brewpub and home from a 32 oz. growler. Pours a copper color with a small off white head. Aroma of herbal and grassy hops, mild floral notes. Some bready and toffee malts. Flavor is mildly bitter, accentuated by sweet malts. The toastiness from the malts comes out a bit as it warms and accentuates some fruity hops. Finishes a bit bitter. This beer is kind of what I’ve always wanted in the style. It really hits home for me. Medium bodied, a bit thick on the palate. Nice.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Half Acre Tap Room. This really drinks like an English IPA, imo. Pours a nice orange copper with a creamy head. The nose is pretty muted overall. Faint grassy hops and toasty malts. On tasting, big bitterness. Good level of fruit blossom hop flavor. Some resin. Quite clean with a dusty yeast quality. Moderate sweetness and drying finish. Robust malty base. Really good beer here that gets dinged for the aroma.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Samplers on tap at the Tap Room (Chicago, IL). Pours a richly copper brown hue, deeper colors with just a kiss of haze. Frothy offwhite head atop dies to a ring, laces ok. Gorgeous striking hues overall. Aromas are mellow, gentle toast and biscuit, bread and earthy hops. Florals, gentle grass, and a fairly clean, mellon feel. Initial is lighter end of the fold, a kiss of body with gentle toast and bready malts, florals and grass, touches of toast, earthy hops, and bread dough. Gentle sweetness and grainy malts, clean dry earthy hopping. Middle is a touch of dough, bready and pale malts, gentle carmelization. Backend is a bit more dry, just a faint kiss of spice but more of an earthy clean dry hop feel. Cleaner backend and finish, dry and earthy hopping. A good session Bitter from the folks at Half Acre. I wouldn’t say it is memorable, but I enjoyed it.

Solid ale from the session beer kings. Dark red/light brown appearance. Smells great, stronger cereal aroma than Gossamer. Appreciate the medium body, easy to down pints of this without much effort. Bitter finish cleans the palate, makes you thirsty for the next sip.
