COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our lightest beer is a hopped medium bodied ale for ideal drinkability. It's a perfect celebration beer.

5000 (6298) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - NOV 26, 2011
Bottle:   Vibrant golden, soft haze, beaucoup carbonation, large frothy white head, decent lacing.   Musty nose, very basement like.   Not what I was expecting.   Very slight earthiness, some floral aspects... all very light but they are there.   Bubbley in the tongue, some wet blanket, straw/hay.   Very lively on the tongue.   Has this powdery sugar aspect on the back end, much like whiffing a freshly opened packet of kool-aid.   Moderate body, prickly mouthfeel.   Decent, but for a Pale Lager it comes across more as an Ale.   A little musty, earthy perhaps, but its light and fairly refreshing.

Bottle. Pours a foggy golden color with a frothy white head which was spilling out of the bottle when I opened it. Malty. Very malty. Some peppery spice in the aroma too. Bland flavor, yet crisp finish. Malty. Some lemon zest. Nothing really special about this, actually.

I drank this with the expectation that the beer (Obama ’08) would give me something to be glad about this 4 year term. It wasn’t. First, why a "pale Ale"? Why not an amber or something. Poured a light yellow, cloudy (what else is new), with a big head (right on the money) that disappears just like our tax money! The aroma was lemony, and the mouth feel was just ok. The hops were mild. This beer pours and foams like it’s going to do something, but then it just sits there and disappoints. Like it’s namesake, it’s nothing special! Sent to me by my College Buddy Ken, who the beer group says after trying this, is not a very good friend. He has been asked not to send another bottle!

Sampled as Mavericks Obama Presidential Ale. Pours with a golden body topped by a thick, foamy head with a good amount of lacing. Hmmm...not much to say about it except it has a light grassy bitterness. Light bodied and highly carbonated.

650 ml bottle from Bevmo. Obama ’08 presidential version. Pours a hazy pale yellow color with a rocky white head that has good retention and lacing. The aroma is sweet canned creamed corn. The flavor is the same, obnoxious corn with a bit of dirt and some mildly spicy hops. The mouthfeel is thin and weak. The finish is short and dry.Overall: Memorable for all the wrong reasons, this beer sucks.

cbkschubert (2900) - BFE, Arizona, USA - AUG 7, 2009
22 oz. bottle from BevMo (SD) - Pours a hazy light golden color with a larger two finger thick white head. Very light lacing. Aroma is light esters, herbal hops, and grain. Flavor is very light. Has some faint malt sweetness. Light body. A drinkable beer, but a waste of money.

Bottle Obama: Really does have a good drinkability. Has good flavor profile with some malts and hops. Food Pairing: Hot Dogs.

Like the president this beer was made for in support of, it fails on so many levels. First, you’d think that to celebrate a momentus occasion (despite on his failure so far) they’d create a new beer, not just relabel an old one. But that’s what they did. And then, they didn’t relabel a good beer, but a crappy pale lager. C’mon.

The beer pours out a clear dark yellow color with a quick dissapearing act of a head. Aroma is musty grain, green apples and a bit of hay. Flavor has some mild vegie sweetness and little else. Just an awful beer to celebrate a monumentally huge landmark occasion.

UPDATED: JUN 14, 2009 Obama!!! Your lager sucks! When I see you on the label, I taste this cloudy, musty, and inadequate mouthfeel of grassy, somewhat sweet term of citrus mediocrity. Change is likely because I’m sure you can’t provide the big bucks. This lager is decent - but obviously fails especially if you’re going to market it with OBAMA. Shit.

Bomber of Obama ’08 from BevMo, Salinas. Nose of musty grain and hay with a little sweetness and background spiciness. Hazy darker gold with a medium, short-lasting white head. Flavor is light bitterness, grassy hay, and light caramelly sweetness. But shouldn’t this have been an amber or porter as opposed to a pale lager?
