3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft to taster at Half Moon. Looks solid; light though. A completely transparent gold with eggshell lacing. Smells of hops with a sweet pale malt backbone. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Okay, but sweeter than I’d prefer.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the brewpub
A fairly average IPA is about as good as many of the other drafts at Half Moon. It is one of those average regional beers that you would come back for if it were your local but not so great that everyone should seek it out if driving to Indianapolis.
Aroma / Appearance - A rosy golden base is full of traces of carbonation below a pillowy white head. Nutty planks of unvarnished oak hang in the air like a lumber mill. Traces of lemons and oranges give a standard IPA foundation.
Flavor / Palate - Resin, roses, and dusty orange peels stick on the tongue. Warm and bitter the ABV soon creeps up on you. Propped up by a reasonable amount of malts this still does not have a nice bitter finish that a good IPA should (for examples see Fat Heads, Sun King, Three Floyds, and more). Scroll past unless you want the tick.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
tap at the brewpub 5/14/13 - The bartender indicated that this beer was originally Moon Beam IPA #2 and was chosen from others in the series to become a more regular beer. It pours hazy copper colored and the aroma is dominated by grapefruit. It’s heavy on the hops, on the high end for single IPAs when it comes to bitterness. It’s not a compex beer, but the hops are crisp, the body medium, and the finish bitter in a good way. Solid.
