manuchampions (95), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Oct 14, 2009 Yellow wax sealed bomber direct from the brewer. Thanks Dave! Apparently this is a 2006 vintage. Pours a lovely copper brown with thick yellowish head. The aroma is abundantly fruity; cherries, figs even a little orange peel. The taste is amazing...complex layers of fruitcake, massive honey hit with a treacle, marmalade like malt back. The booze is still evident though I’m subdued as a result of excellent aging. I’d hazard a guess that this beer would rate better if sampled after aging rather than fresh. While that may seem obvious to some I really think this beer (as I have just sampled it) warrants a higher score. One of the best barley wines I’ve had and certainly the best in Canada so far. MesandSim (5789), London, Greater London, England Oct 12, 2009 A Mes rate. Bottle at Chris O’s beer exposed tasting. Awesome colour. A rich dark amber with a good off white head. Treacle malt with some awesome hop balance. Some cheese, plenty of funk along with loads of barley and sugar. Excellent bitter hoppage in the finish. Really good. As a barley wine, it really has the lot. Thanks Harry. Radek Kliber (3912), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada Sep 22, 2009 Bottle 341 ml

BillKismet (1894), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 11, 2009 Scotch amber colored with a lush tan head. Distinct diacetyl/butterscotch aromas and caramel wander into the nose. Sharp crystal malt flavors with the re-emergency of diacetyl/butterscotch. Burnt caramel finish. Definitely more in line with the English lineage of Barleywines and Old Ales. after4ever (2705), Brier, Washington, USA Aug 9, 2009 12 oz. pours crystal clear medium brown. light gray tiny bubbles. biggish caramel nose. creamy medium body. caramel, biscuit, and resin mid palate. long dry finish. matt7215 (941), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Jul 19, 2009 341 ml bottle from a trade with hobbersr. pours clear dark reddish brown with a short white head. aromas of deep caramalt, alcohol and backing hops. the flavour is classic american barley wine. more bitterness then i was expecting. overall its very solid. thx riley. omhper (12147), Stockholm, Sweden Jun 2, 2009 Bottled at RBJG. Clear deep amber, brief head. Piney caramel that lasts from nose and on. Near full bodied with lots of toffee and sparkling treacle. Salty finish. Intensive sweetness takes the edge of it for now, would probably do well with some time in the cellar. KyotoLefty (1370), Kyoto, Japan May 26, 2009 Bottle at the RBJG. Rich toffee sweetness, strong alcohol burn. Some hops noticeable as well. Very rich, semi-complex malts, ok fruitiness, but a bit too sweet.
