22 oz. bottle from Savvy1982- thanks again, Kyle! Pours a dark brown color, pretty much opaque, with a small brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, molasses, dark fruits, whiskey, oats, and charred oak. Flavor of oak, molasses, whiskey, dark fruits, roasted malts, toasted brown sugar, and chocolate. Some warmth to it. Medium-bodied, with a roasty mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Solid.

650ml bottle pours almost black in color with a small light brown head and a bit of lacing left on the side of the glass. Aroma is complex with a lot going on, roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and whiskey with a trace of hops. Taste is dark roasted bitterness and malty sweetness with some chocolate and coffee and a floral hoppy finish. This is one heck of an imperial stout, very complex and very enjoyable.

bottle from savvy at rbwg 3/5/11. basically a black pour with brown at the edges and a khaki head. it is not as thick as most examples of the style. nice smoky nose... along with black pepper, barrel spice, earthy hops, a little ash, choco and roast. the flavor matches the aroma but finishes roasty and leaves an ashy aftertaste. medium body...forte but not thick... crisp and prickly. nice. 8/3/8/4/16/3.9

Single bottle. Can’t recall where/when I purchased it. Colour: Deep, deep brown....ok black. Low brown head though! Nose: Complex. Huge waves of cocoa, cologne, mixed cooked vegetables, fried batter, touch of mint, glue, sherry, cookie dough. Unbelievable. Is there a point of too much? This has got to be the most cluttered aroma I have ever put my nose to. Taste: Medium sweet, medium bitter, medium-light sour. Rum pudding, double espresso, coal smoke, bitter-sweet cocoa dust. Dry bitter finish...some parsley comes out late. Wow...what an adventure that was.

Blackish chocolate brown complete with a thick brown skiff. Aroma is good, I mean real good, I mean yum yum. Sweet plum, subtle coffee, ginger, cinnamon, crap I’ve been smelling that in almost every beer I drink lately!!! Why!!! Why do I have cinnamon on the brain? Aroma rounds out with some mild alcohol. The barrel aging is in the brew but not at the front of the flavor, strange flavor of cherry Vick’s not sure how I’m tasting that one. Nice strong thick malty roast chocolate yumness. Corn flakes not in a bad way. Now more whisky is showing up. Kind of grapefruit citrus but no really maybe pine but not pine. So much thick flavor. My head is starting to spin a little. Oaky coffee with sweet plum on the last sip. Good beer, by far the best I’ve had from Half Pints.

bottle-thanks to Savvy for sharing this at the RBWG-pours deep brown with a small fizzy kacki head. great legs on this one! strong chocolate, peppers, dry rye, slightly roasty and lite char. very nice nose! smooth chocolate dominates the flavors, a hint of alcohol and a long roasty finish. somewhat ashy as it warmed but still very good. i like stouts like these! very nice brew from America’s hat!!!

A must try stout, with the unusual contribution of sugar from an Indian palm tree and the whiskey barreling. Absolutely black colour, roasted aromas. The sugar takes some edge from the bitterness of the citrus hops (Centennial, also Williamete). Very interesting and unique, a sipper than grows on me as I drink it deep into the meal. Sweetish aftertaste. Average mouthfeel.A creation up there with the gret stouts coming out of Denmark. Thanks Ted and ultimately Rudge.
