COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For those of you unfamiliar with the beer, it’s our IPA dryhopped with 5 different citrus peels and a boatload of extra dry hops. The peels make for a very smooth and oily hoppy ale.

2011-10-30. Hazy golden orange body, small frothy white head. 3+ Aroma is a bit strange, sweet, sort of spicey aroma? I am getting the same sort of character in the flavour, I want to call it chili powder but that’s not quite right, modest bitterness throughout. (I think I decided it was "Five Alarm IPA" instead of "Five Alive") Really did not care for this, I don’t know if I got a bad sample, or if it was my tastebuds short circuiting but mine seemed to be very different from how other people described it. Hope to try it again if I get the chance. Cask Days 2011, Toronto 6/3/4/3/12

October 30, 2011 - Volo Cask Days 2011 - gravity cask. Slightly hazy amber with a typical small frothy off-white head. Aroma is ... odd: sugary, reminds me of tangerine pixie stix, not bad, but intense and way more sweet than bitter. Taste - more beery, citrus zest, spicy and marigold-floral, the malt body is still very sweet though - some booze (5.5%? really???). Decent body, very lively, sugary-bitter finish - ultimately candyish and it almost seemed like artificial flavouring - need more bitterness!!

Cask at Cask Days 2011. Beer #15 of festival. Pours a slightly hazy orange-copper with a thin lasting bubbly white head. Aroma has lots of catty hops along with a ton of citrus, quite nice. Flavour of citrusy hops along with spices. Decent bitter finish. Somewhat unbalanced but I still enjoyed it.

[4059-20111030] Cask. Herbal orange thyme aroma. Slightly hazy, medium orange body with a quick bubbly head. Multigrain rye seeds flavour has a strange spice characteristic. Medium body. Odd graininess balance. (6/3/7/3/13) 3.2

A hazed amber IPA with a thin light mocha head. In aroma, a strange marmelade with funky notes, floral hops, menthol, very strange. In mouth, a smooth piney and coniferous hops, bizarre and buttery. Cask Days, Oct. 30 2011.

On cask at Cask Days 2011 at Hart House, served in an English pint glass. Pours hazy orange-golden with a small, rocky tan head. The head fades and leaves a small amount of lace. The nose begins with a huge blast of citrus peel. Seemingly every citrus variety is represented. This progresses to develop aromas of pale malts and a touch of pine. As expected, the flavour is quite citric. It begins moderately sweet but soon becomes moderately bitter, with a long citric finish. On the palate, it is light-medium in body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a nice IPA with a huge citrus peel aroma that carries through to the finish. It could be criticized for being too one-dimensionally citric, but I enjoyed it and would easily drink it again. 2011-10-30

Aroma fresh, aromatic, hoppy with plenty of citrus. Very refreshing clean IPA nose.
Appearance hint of haze on amber-golden base. Rocky white top. 3+
Flavor and Palate : Citrus, fruity with hint of pepper. Strong bold hops that were quiet rough on palate. Creamy overtones.
