The hoptimist thinks this is the best of all possible worlds. A 100% Topaz hopped wheat beer. From their website: Sometimes, an idea for a beer drops in our laps like an A-bomb, and such is the case for this brew. We said to ourselves: “Selves! What would happen if we hopped the beejesus out of our delicious Wheat beer?” The answer was obvious! “It would taste like a bitter mushroom cloud explosion of fruity goodness!” So we brewed it... using malted barley and wheat, with enough hops to drop the Enola Gay from the sky (look it up if you don’t get it). We modified our brewhouse to fit it all in and used a special technique called hop bursting to achieve the tasty, almost peach-like aroma from a new variety called Topaz. The beer is dry, fruity with wheat beer esters of banana, all backed with an oily hop aroma of tropical fruits. The Hoptimist thinks this is the best of all possible worlds! Try it at 8C. in a Weizen glass with grilled weissewurst and hot mustard, a sharp aged goat’s cheese.

Bottle. Brilliant cloudy apricot colour with a thick white head. Aroma is big and fruity, a little tart, some citrus, tropical fruit and peach notes. Flavour is bracingly bitter, with soft carbonation and an oily texture. Really tasty, and likely the most flavourful beer under 5% ABV I've ever tried.

Pours hazy pale gold with an explosive three fingers plus of white head, great retention and lacing. (4/5) Nose is tropical fruit, wheat, banana, pine resin. (7/10) Taste is moderate sweet, strong bitter, slight sour. (7/10) Light to medium body, moderate carbonation, lingering dry and bitter finish. (4/5) What the hell is that? It’s like the bastard love child of a Belgian IPA and a wheat beer. With a hefty dose of saison and brett. It’s not entirely a success: the nose is actually a little muted, and the astringency of the brett tones pushes the bitterness a little out of balance with the malt. (15/20)

Bottle. Hazy yellow pour, lots of protruding white head with nice lacing on the sides. Aroma, banana, clove, and a hint of tropical fruit. Taste, wow, crisp up front, followed by loads of citrus flavour, crisp dry finish, this is a very refreshing brew. The aroma is deceptive as it makes you think you’re about to take a nose dive into a typical wheat ale, my girlfriend thinks it tastes like candy, not sure I agree with that assessment but it’s hella delicious.

Aroma grassy and citrus hops.Taste is sweet maltiness with a fairly strong bitterness that has a tangy aftertaste. Slightly cloudy body with a pearl white bubbly head that retains well.

A hazy golden yellow colour.. Tastes like a tropical fruit basket with floral hints. There is some wheat and some spice from the yeast. Over quite drinkable.

65 cl bottle, Calgary, AB, via Winnipeg. Light golden, slight haze. Nectarine and honey aroma. Bright hop flavour, then a depth that belies its ABV. Finish is coriander and pepper.

Thanks to Lizotte for this. Pours a cloudy golden with a moderate white pillow top. Aroma is wheat and big pine hop bitterness. Taste is chewy wheat malts and a big bit off balance pine and astringent hop bitterness. Puckers you up but very tasty.

On tap at Beer Revolution. Expectations shattered. Was expecting a mildly hoppy belgian style wheat beer. Hazy golden pour, decent white head. Aroma is lots of yeasty floral fruit esters, peachy mango aroma from the hops. Palate is not dominated by any one characteristic, impeccable balance of sweet fruits and mild bitterness. Wicked beer and great with appy platters and stronger tasting foods.

Somewhat fruity beginning with a really strong hop finish. Some mentioned this beer is like a cross between an IPA and German wheat beer, which summarizes the drink perfectly.

Pours a pretty clear golden colour with a small bright white head that leaves a little lace on the glass. Aroma is fruity, wheat, and mild citrus. Flavour is spicy, resin, grapefruit, tropical fruits, strong bitterness and mildly sweet underneath the bitterness.
