Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Sep 14, 2007 Amber colour with a slight haze. The aroma is foresty, caramelly and earthy with a hint of citrus. The flavour is resiny, limey, with canteloupe/melon notes. Good depth of bitterness adds punch to these fun flavours. Nice work! CapFlu (3340), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Sep 11, 2007 (Draught) Sampled at the Great Canadian Beer Festival 2007 in Victoria on September 8th, 2007. Thin white head with a deep orange body. Nose is nicely candied orange lollipop. I find the hops very different and interesting. A very likable beer. HogTownHarry (3273), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Sep 26, 2007 Bottle (660ml). Via trade with oakbluff. Hazy amber-orange with a large fluffy lasting beige head. Smells a lot like a fresh bottle of Alesmith IPA - lush, juicy malt and fresh citrus/herbal hops - balanced and my mouth is literally watering (8+). Tates like a Dreadnaught - lots of malt, but VERY bitter, long grapefruit finish. Average body, plenty of astringency and lingering alpha acidity - long finish, bitter hop aftertaste for days. A truly great beer - well done - and I have 3 more bombers!!! jerc (3217), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 15, 2007 Bottle. Hazy golden orange body, foamy off white head diminishes. (3+) Very hoppy aroma, citrus notes, grapefruit, light green leafy notes. Similar flavour, moderately citrusy hops, light resin. Alcohol is very restrained. Very nice and possibly one of the most drinkable double IPAs I have had. blankboy (2625), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 20, 2007 My bottle (650ml) shared with tupalev, jerc & mabel -- courtesy of oakbluff. Pours a slightly hazy golden-orange with an average size diminishing foamy off-white head. Lovely aroma of C-hops (Cascade & Centennial) nicely backed by caramel malt. Flavour’s equal parts C-hops and caramel malt along with some fruit and mild spices. Nice bitter finish. Alcohol’s very well hidden. Medium bodied. Wow, fantastic stuff, quite possibly Canada’s best (only?) DIPA.
