Wow. One of Canada’s best Imperial Stouts. Pours out a completely dark back with a thin tan head. The nose is sweet and woody with tons of bourbon notes and boozy roasted notes. Beautiful roasted malts, chocolate, espresso, and light vanilla notes blend well with huge bourbon wood notes. Delicious well rounded, incredibly heavy palate with gorgeous bourbon barrel flavours. Overall, a full body with thick smooth mouthfeel. Just awesome.

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2014 2014-01-21. Black body with a modest tan head that fades. Aroma is lightly boozy, modest sweet bourbony vanilla, muted dark malt core. Flavour is quite rich, with a dark malty core, mild bourbon notes with lots of sweet vanilla highlights and a very rich overall impression. Fairly bitter actually, which lingers in the finish and helps balances it out slightly. 7++ Medium to full bodied palate, moderate carbonation. 3++ Very nice stuff, the barrel is both restrained and strong and just a touch too much for my tastes. Bottle cellared at least 9 months via trade with Ferris.

[Bottle (650ml) shared with HogTownHarry, jercraigs & mabel -- c/o j&m] Pours a dark ruby-brown with a small lasting frothy light-brown head. Aroma has lots of vanilla, some wood, alcohol, roasted malt, chocolate and brown sugar. Flavour is sweet and malty along with vanilla, chocolate, brown sugar, alcohol and dark fruit. Medium bodied. Pretty good but too barrel-aged for my liking.

Let me stvv lbbbbnm bbnart with the minus. The downside is that the taste doenst last very long. Great parts are the awesome smell and the great taste, a kind of mix between bourbon county and Black thuesday. The mouthfeel is good but not outstandig, dominating alcohol, sweetness, cocos, and carbonation.

Thin, dissipating beige head atop a thick opaque body. The Alberta Crew had nominated this beer as the best in Western Canada - and I see why. This is a monster. So rich. Bourbon barrel-age is highly present in the nose but not the main focus of the flavour. Coffee, ash and vanilla meld do nicely. This really is a win. Great work Dave Rudge. Thanks Ferris for the bottle.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a black color with an average frothy brown head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted chocolate, coffee, vanilla wood and bourbon alcohol aroma. Moderate to heavy dark sweet toasted dark chocolate malt flavor with a moderate to heavy dark sweet and small bourbon alcohol bite finish of medium to long duration. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a standout beer.

Rating based on notes from some time ago... One-year-old bottle. Black pour with a brown head. Boozy aroma, with chocolate, vanilla, bourbon and bready notes. Flavour is boozy, even after a year. Malty, with dark chocolate and vanilla. Very tasty, and I’d like to try it after being aged a bit more yet.

22 oz bottle shared with the group. Pours dark brown to black in color with athin beige film. The aroma and flavor have bourbon, sweet notes, vanilla, chocolate, some roasted malt, dark fruit, wood with a mild splash of black coffee. Very smooth, the abv remains well hidden.

Pours an opaque black with a frothy dark brown head and tons of sticky lace. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, roasted malts and oak. Taste is bourbon, roasted malts, alcohol, bitter chocolate and a nice warming from the alcohol on the finish. Excellent barrel aged imperial stout in terms of balance and flavor.
