To admit that the brewer at Half Pints is a bit of a hophead is an understatement. This India Pale Ale is unabashedly hoppy, not only from the Amarillo hops we add to the brew kettle, but also from the northwest U.S. variety called Cascade that we add directly to the final tank. A firm toasted malt presence forms the background for all of these hops, and we're confident our Little Scrapper IPA could take other so-called IPA's to the mat if called upon to do so. Try it with a curry or a basket of beer battered fish & chips. Serve in a glass at 8 degrees celcius. Unpasturized.

On tap. It is a nice one, not too bitter, noticeable malt backbone, slight tartness. Pretty good.

Wonderful for a basic IPA. Very few in it’s class can match this beer for quality, consistency and hoppiness. Flavour is hoppy with hints of citrus and floral overtones. Nice smooth finish. Medium carbonation and IBU (50).

341ml bottle pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small white head and some decent lacing. Aroma is citrus and earthy hops. Big bold hoppy bitterness and an underlying malty sweetness compliments these hops nicely. Medium body and modest carbonation. This is quite a fine IPA.

Nice golden pour with fluffy white head. Aroma of pine, grapefruit and hops. Taste is pretty much the same with huge hop bitterness lingering. A pleasant surprise on how good this was.

UPDATED: APR 12, 2013 Very good. Nice strong hops flavour, slight honey sweetness. Not quite as good as the Humulous Ludicrous, but a very good beer nonetheless.

Reddish copper with a medium, lingering head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine from hops. Also a big whack of butterscotch (diacetyl, i suppose). Taste is similar, bitter hops, caramel/butterscotch malt backbone. Lingering bitter finish.

bottle. Pours a slightly hazy reddish amber with a moderate, lasting white head. Good aroma, kind of a floral hoppiness. Taste: Moderate bitterness, a bit of citrus - warms to a slight sweet maltiness. Finishes with a floral hop bitterness. Pretty good, this would be an excellent ’regular drinking beer’ for hopheads...

341ml brown bottle. Pours golden, a bit of haze. Nice frothy head with sticky, thick, clingy lace. Aroma is piney hops, some orange zest. Flavor has a biscuity malt base, lots of grapefruit and pine hop flavor. Bright hoppy finish with nice lingering grapefruity andpine and lemony notes, medium bitterness. Medium body with soft carbonation, good mouthfeel. Overall, a nicely hopped easy to drink IPA, reminds me a bit of Lakefront’s IPA.

Little Scrapper poured a dark rusty amber color with a gorgeous two finger white head. Head retention was good and ample lacing was left on my tulip glass. The aroma consists mainly of floral and spruce aromas from the hops with some citrus and a small bit of caramel. The flavor is a nice blend of pine, grapefruit, and roasted malts. The malts have a faint caramel note to them. The flavors are very well balanced and the hops are clearly present but not as overpowering as other IPAs. The mouthfeel is very soft and smooth. This IPA is very highly drinkable.
