COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
To admit that the brewer at Half Pints is a bit of a hophead is an understatement. This India Pale Ale is unabashedly hoppy, not only from the Amarillo hops we add to the brew kettle, but also from the northwest U.S. variety called Cascade that we add directly to the final tank. A firm toasted malt presence forms the background for all of these hops, and we're confident our Little Scrapper IPA could take other so-called IPA's to the mat if called upon to do so. Try it with a curry or a basket of beer battered fish & chips. Serve in a glass at 8 degrees celcius. Unpasturized.

Good and firm hops aroma, just what it should be to call it an IPA. Nice cascade presence, but it seems like something is missing in it, I donít know what though, it just smells too light. Decent head, great lacing, it just keeps on lasting. Orangey coppery colour, very nice, fairly hazy. Taste if quite sharp of the amarillo hops, has the same hole in it the smell has, somethingís jut not quite right. It peaks too high and then falls too far too quickly.Hard to find malt flavour under the hops. Prickly on the way down, leaves the hop taste for a while for you to chew on. A pretty nice IPA, itís almost like a 1 1/2 IPA, not quite a double. Amarillo isnít my favourite hops but this is a great IPA.

Clear deep orange blonde with a huge and everlasting mushroom head. Notes of caramel and a gentle herbal hops aromas completed by a mineral note. Medium body, lovely malt presence, chewy, backed by a gentle but sustained bitterness that finishes a little spicy. Very classic english style IPA.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2010 Bottle from piscator34 (Thanks!) Copper orange pour, medium carbonation and good amount of lacing after the head subsided. Aroma is caramel and slightly stale resiny hops. Flavor is earthy, herbal hops, some vanilla and a little dry and stale on the finish. Not bad, although I would love to try this fresh on tap! 02/25/2010 Re-Rate-->Bottle received this last weekend via an in person BA trade. This bottle is much better, all the good aspects of the beer from my original rating but much richer. Syrupy hops are definitely up front after the first sip, followed by stronger vanilla and a little booze. Again, very well done and most certainly a beer thatís best fresh!

Deep amber colour, tall slightly green head. Aroma is very hoppy. Very North American. The beer is rich smooth and flavourfull. A very nice sessional IPA. Full bodied and robust, hoppy and bitter without ripping your face off.

Bottle. Hazy deep golden with orange highlights and a thick long-lasting head. Very fruity hoppy aroma. Hop-dominated flavour, mostly tangerine citrus, some peach, hints of spice, beautifully bitter end. An excellent west-coast American style IPA! Fuck yeah our western provinces can turn out the IPAs! Western Canada REPRESENT!!

341 ml bottle at Volo. Pours a cloudy copper with slightly off-white head. Maybe something was off with my bottle, glass or me, but the nose was strongly salty, almost fishy. That smell really overwhelmed the hop presence that was clear from the flavour - big piney, green hops with some spiciness and a subtle caramel malt backbone. Lasting, moderately bitter finish with the alcohol giving it a pleasant warmth. I donít for the life of me understand the aroma, but otherwise a nice beer.

A soft, crisp, clean and refreshing IPA. Surprisingly soft nose, mild hops and citrus, with gentle floral notes. Tastes of orange and lemon rind, hops and butter. Nice lacing in the glass, pours golden yellow.

Bottle. Pours medium red-amber, with a fluffy and persistent off-white head with gorgeous lacing. Nose is delicate but still well-hopped; notes of spruce and citrus, not terribly aromatic. Really tasty in the mouth, plenty of grapefruit, pine resin, firm malt background. Well done, points are for balance though, not massive extroverted hops.

Bottle at Volo. Solid american IPA. Amber colour with small head. Nice piney hoppy nose, Substantial taste of caramel malt balances out the citrus and piney hop flavours.

i gotta say, this is very good stuff! i did not expect this quality of brew. Straight up American IPA. Excellent hazy apricot colour with a fair sized smooth white crown, decent retention and ample ropy lacing. the floral aroma is filled with amarillo and cascade hops (I love amarillo hops) that leave the nose happy. Sweet and fruity, maybe the smallest ammount of pine, and soft malts - a small quantity. Taste is as good as the aroma. Intense hops right off the bat, pine, and citrus, some fruit but the intensity of the hops wipes most everything else out. This sucker is ALL hops. Mouthfeel is nice smooth with a good biting ammount of carbonation. Almost medium bodied. The malts try to come out at the end but get smashed by the crazy bitterness that goes on and on. Excellent brew.
