COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
To admit that the brewer at Half Pints is a bit of a hophead is an understatement. This India Pale Ale is unabashedly hoppy, not only from the Amarillo hops we add to the brew kettle, but also from the northwest U.S. variety called Cascade that we add directly to the final tank. A firm toasted malt presence forms the background for all of these hops, and we're confident our Little Scrapper IPA could take other so-called IPA's to the mat if called upon to do so. Try it with a curry or a basket of beer battered fish & chips. Serve in a glass at 8 degrees celcius. Unpasturized.

[2134-20090508] Bottle. Fresh apple orange hops and earth aroma. Hazy, dark red amber body with a quick foamy off-white head. Bitter earthy orange hops flavour has a bit of sweet grass. Medium body is bitter. Interesting, fair balance.

"Not bad looking brew hazy gold with a good quarter inch crown floating on top some spotty lacing all and all not too bad. Aroma is a straight up American IPA with the typical grapefruit hops with a nice malty presence some floral notes make their way in as well. The aroma is a little too mild for my liking I would have preferred if it was a touch more aggressive. Taste is slightly watery but still has tones of flavor hops dominate as they should with their citrus flavors the caramel tasting malts are a touch held back in the flavor but this is still very tasty I’m also getting a noticeable amount of a perfumey flavor most likely from hops. Not the greatest IPA in the word but still very drinkable and compared to most other Canadian examples this is pretty good, I would easily buy the one again given the chance. "

An amazing IPA, perfectly bitter and spicy. Probably the best beer ever brewed in Winnipeg. Each sip is a trip to heaven on a grapefruit flavoured carriage.

UPDATED: SEP 25, 2010 2010-09-20. Lightly hazy orange body with a modest off white head. 3+ Flavour has a pleasant modest bitterness throughout. Hoppy profile is modestly resiny, light leafy green resin, hints of citrus and grapefruit seed. Flavour finishes with a chewy resiny caramel malt blend. 7+ aroma is mild at first, modest orange seeds and modest green hops. 7+ Average to medium bodied palate suits the beer nicely. 3+ Combination of a larger sample and mire assertive citrus takes this up a notch from previous samples. Freshness counts as this was noticeably better than at another pub in Winnipeg. 7/3/7/4/15 - 3.6 On tap at the King’s Head, Winnipeg.

2009-05-08. Dark orange body with an off-white head. Pleasant resiny hop aroma with muted leafy and citrus touches. Flavour starts with a quick burst of citrusy resin but the hops get a touch muted and muddled in the middle. Sweet malt base with muted touches of caramel undertones. (6+). Average plus palate is lightly carbonated. Okay. 7/3/6/3/14 - 3.3 Bottle at Volo

12oz bottle. Some piney hops in the nose but subdued. Pours an amber with decent head that subsided quickly. The hops are certainly there but not overly distinct. Malt is caramel, rounded and more dominant. But there at the finish are more hops. It’s a pretty good IPA but not stellar. However, benchmarked against other IPA’s from the region it’s a standout.

bottle: Pours a clouded shimmering orange-amber ale in the glass with a rich puffy 2 finger cap that lasts and laces. Aroma: Rich leafy citus-herbal woodsy tones over some substantial malt notes....very lush. Flavor profile: starts with a big chew of caramel malt up front but then the hops rush in..citrus, piney, leafy hops ride just above a stable bready malt spine...finish is dry and lightly bitter. A good boilerplate APA with a Pac-NW flair wedded to a Brit IPA simplicity...a rich sessioner.

Nose is orange/pine and some decent malt. Amber, small custard head. Taste is orange/pine, fine malt backing, well balanced, hoppy, biiter and bold. Very good example.

Pleasant, understated hop aroma. Pours a very nice hazy orange with decent head. Not too bad to sit around and have a few pints, but fairly simplistic. Light body, could use some more malt. Mid range bitter finish with some alcohol.
